The L Word crowd was out in force last night. Was practically a rally.

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 2:20 PM

is this the "if you're ugly and you know it clap your hands" tour?

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 2:37 PM

^^heh

Wow! An opportunity to see Tegan and Sara! They never play NYC!

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 3:29 PM

wow, some of these comments are pretty lame. if you hate the "L word crowd" so much, Anon at 2:20pm, why bother going to a T&S show to begin with if you can't handle gay people around you?

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 3:39 PM

That's like going to a Toby Keith concert and complaining about the rednecks.

Those bitches talk too much at their shows. I'm not sure if anyone's told them, but they should.

I really wish I could know the setlist for October 5th since they sang a rare song that was never released. Also, after reading these comments I laughed. It is true that their was A LOT of lesbians there, and its quite a contradiction. Tegan and Sara don't want to be known for being lesbians, they want to be known for the music. I think them being lesbians, does influence other lesbians to like their music. This is exactly the reason why Tegan and Sara are very private when it comes to their sexual life.
*my favorite part of the concert was when Tegan started yelling at the crowd saying she was a great public speaker and to shut it.

I thought "the L word" meant LADIES.

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 8:15 PM

Oh, lesbians can't be referred to or talked about as a group now?

I'll fully say that, of course, no stereotypes are accurate for all individuals from a group, blah blah blah, you can't make overarching generalizations about a group of people just because they all have one thing in common... but come on, just MENTIONING that the lesbians were out in force at a show is "hate" to you?

You really should learn to pick your battles. There is real, dangerous homophobia out there in the world, it passes laws that treat gays as 2nd class citizens, it gets people beat up or killed for being who they are. That is the homophobia you should be saving your outrage for.

Mentioning that a bunch of lesbians were at a show, or taking some easy shots about mullets, or calling out the fact that gay women as a demographic are more likely to talk during shows (dunno why, but it's as true as the fact that Hasids drive like maniacs), if that harmless, statistically-true-but-you're-not-supposed-to-say-it bullshit scares you, then you need to start living in the real world.

There's way bigger fish to fry, sister.

by the way, Tegan and Sara are fucking terrible. They are popular solely because there are a lot of urban Americans who think toothless sappy pop is "exotic" if it's made by two twin Canadian women who're into the ladies. These folks are wrong, shit is BORING.

Show me the statistics that demonstrate lesbians are more likely to talk during shows or that Hasids drive like maniacs.

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 9:15 PM

can someone please post the setlist?

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 9:20 PM

It's true... I didn't see anyone post anything about "hating" lesbians. Though this is Brooklyn Vegan, so it's only a matter of time.

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 9:28 PM

"Show me the statistics that demonstrate lesbians are more likely to talk during shows or that Hasids drive like maniacs."

Okay, FOXNews recently reported on the surge in lesbian banter at alternate Brooklyn shows, O'Reilly used it as one of his talking points, Hannity took a widely-quoted poll, and Michael Savage spent four hours talking about it last week.

Oh, and they also came to conclusion that it is in fact the Latvians who drive like maniacs, not the Hasidim.

Lol @ dumb bitches that feel the need to comment on a band they do not like.

T and S rock.

Posted by lololol | October 6, 2008 11:50 PM

i thought tonight was a really great show. the band's very solid. my only disappointment was a lack of songs from if it was you.

i was off to the side of the stage on the floor in the little vip area. there were a couple of douchey guards hitting on some chatty drunk girls which, i would think, bowery presents wouldn't be too thrilled with (with letting them into the vip area, dancing with them, etc).

it was a pretty crappy crowd, show-wise. a very butch bridge and tunnel that likely doesn't go otherwise go to shows. and, according to the box office, it was only 1/3 full (that's 1,000 tickets sold).

don't get me wrong, I looooovvvveee the ladies, but they don't belong in the news room.
