The Damned

Is it too early to be planning your New Years? I know we already talked about a few New Years Eve shindigs... so add this one to your list. English goth punk pioneers The Damned announced a six-date east coast tour with Theo & the Skyscrapers and Electric Frankenstein and that includes a pair of shows at the Gramercy in NYC including one on New Years Eve (tickets are on sale). The second NYC show is the previous day, Dec 30th, but tickets aren't on sale yet - maybe they'll only actually play it if December 31st sells out.

The east coast tour is proceeded by a UK tour which is preceeded by a west coast tour. Sandwiched smack in the middle of those UK dates is a performance at the previously-mentioned ATP Nightmare Before Christmas curated by Melvins & Mike Patton and featuring The Melvins, Big Business (shock!), The Locust, Isis, and even Fantomas performing The Director's Cut in its entirety.

The Damned recently completed their new studio album, with drummer Pinch documenting the proceedings on his myspace account. The record, entitled So, Who's Paranoid?, is due Nov 13th. Pick it up here.

The Damned 2008 is:

Dave Vanian - Vox
Captain Sensible - Guitars
Monty Oxy Moron - Keys
Stu West - Bass
Pinch - Drums

$60 for the Damned. Ha!

Posted by Anonymous | October 6, 2008 10:40 AM

that's almost as crazy as $70 for the new pornographers.

$60 for the Damned.. HA is right. I have to believe that is some sort of New Years eve premium and it is for Dave Vanian's botox injections (seriously I think that guy sold his soul to the Devil). $25-30 I could see. Then again floor tix for Madonna tomorrow night are $800 so I guess it is whatever the market will bear.

I love the damned and saw them a few years ago in Los Angeles, and they still were great live, but yeah $60 is INSANE. Only justifiable if its part of some big New years show with other good bands. Even then its a little hard to swallow.

$60 is a lotta spooky.

What part of "The second NYC show is the previous day, Dec 30th, but tickets aren't on sale yet" didn't you understand?

$60 You must be joking! maybe Rat has rejoined the money grabbing f**ker!!!

$60? I got my tickets for The Black Cat show for $20...

Gotta be honest though, I am NOT looking forward to the two opening acts. The Skyscrapers are pretty abysmal... Is the point of opening bands to make the audience so angry that by the time the real band comes out nothing can possibly be worse?

Come back to Texas, damn it!
