The Pretenders

The Pretenders played Highline Ballroom in NYC last night (10/7) - the same day their new album "Break Up The Concrete" was released on Shangri-La Music. Read reviews of the show here, here, and here.

One night earlier they appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. That video and more pictures from the Highline gig, below...

2:09 this is not a compliment to Chrissie Hynde or to any woman. if you said this to a woman in person, most women would tell you to fuck off. as i posted before, to the guys who post misogynistic comments, take a good long look at yourself and post a name & photo if you have any courage. my guess is you're bitter dudes with nothing happening in your life. quit wasting comment space, lets talk about the music.

setlist?

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2008 2:23 PM

"setlist?"

Isn't that misogynistic of you to ask!!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2008 2:29 PM

Matt Pinfield and Leslie Fram!!!

Posted by wembley | October 8, 2008 2:32 PM

But it's funny? no jane?

Posted by R08 | October 8, 2008 2:32 PM

This show was really wonderful. I had a great time!

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2008 2:39 PM

Wow, what a monumental moment...Matt Pinfield is BACK!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2008 2:48 PM

Actually, I'm flattered. Wanna meet at Pianos tonight?

Posted by Chrissie | October 8, 2008 2:50 PM

meh

Jane... it's just a joke. The people who post "i'd hit that" on BV are just trying enjoy the final minutes of a passing fad on this blog. It's not really worth being offended over. To suggest that the the OP should post a name and image just for playing along with a (very stupid) joke is kinda silly.

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2008 2:54 PM

wait, we can post pics of ourselves on BV?

ladies, get ready for the hairy nekkid-ness that is oh my damn!

Posted by oh my damn! | October 8, 2008 2:59 PM

Jane - I'm a lady anyway. i want to bump rugs with her. you are sexist and so quick to judge men. you think that just because someone wants to fuck they must have a dick. i suggest you get a mirror and read some jane austin to yourself in the nude. then you will understand where i'm coming from.

setlist?

Isn't wanting to "hit it" born of a positive reaction? Smart, creative, attractive -- these sound like qualities you would want in breeding (but without the babies. or strings attached).

Since the images on my computer aren’t emitting sound, let me say this: Chrissie looks great. Not sure how she sounds, but WGAF.

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2008 3:49 PM

WGAF = ?

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2008 4:04 PM

Jane you suck I probably wouldn't "hit it" even if you were hot which I doubt that you are...

Anon 3:00

hahahahahahahah

That was exactly what I needed to get through the last 15 minutes of this work day. Thank you.

"I want to bump rugs with her"

Scissor me timbers!!!

Very good show. The Pretenders never relent.

Who was on pedal steel guitar? On the CD it is Eric Heywood, but Chrissie announced the guy as Marty something.

Precious

No break between the first two encores and they didn't perform Precious. In between Don't Get Me Wrong and Brass Chrissie took my request to play
"Almost Perfect" and she asked Martin not to play so at one point I noticed him whistling. I could tell Chrissie was really really happy that someone requested a new song. After the show I told her she was the best part of Ohio....she turned back and said....no you are...and continued to sign my record YAY ~ On the Steel Pedalist Setlist "Night In My Veins" is
listed; but, was not played. I got the steel pedal and Martins setlists and Chrissie and Nicks picks and a drumstick which Martin signed for me YAY oh what a night .....there are videos posted on youtube and I am trying now to upload the 2 encores and part of the third

My god, what a bunch of narcissist masturbators these comentators are.

Posted by somedude | October 9, 2008 6:50 PM

Hello everyone - Was it only me or was this the SHORTEST set I've ever seen? The PRETENDERS rocked and Chrissie is a unique talent, but come on! I clocked the show at 1:15. 75 minutes? Ridiculous. No MOTR, Up The Neck, Tatooed LB, Precious, Adultress or Mystery Achievement... I know they're not so keen on doing every old song, but they can take "Don't Get Me Wrong Out" as even from the balcony I heard Chrissie say, "We got the stinker out of the way". I'd even take "Time, The Avenger" instead of that one! Maybe, when they come back and officially tour, the show will be longer....

Posted by Jason | October 9, 2008 11:19 PM

they absolutely did do precious
stop checking your watch
one of the best shows i've seen

Posted by gregory | October 9, 2008 11:49 PM

they did not do precious unless they came back out after i paid my bar tab, went to the head and bought a cd...and 3/4 of the club had left...great show though...

Posted by greg c | October 10, 2008 6:40 PM

75 minutes was pretty much it. This was, I suppose, a warm-up show for the upcoming tour, so maybe that is why it was a little on the short side.

Rock n roll is unpredictable. You never know how long they will play and sometimes it seems like they are never going to come on at all. Rock could be a little more fan friendly. A program such as a playbill (like for Broadway shows) and earlier show start times, at least during week nights. Anyone find the answer to my earlier inquiry as to who was on steel pedal? Have a nice weekend, all. Evan
