it works, they just don't have anything worthwhile on the page

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2008 4:53 PM

It worked for me, but there's no content there.

Was "the studio" open for concerts before, without the recording equipment?

ha, greatest party on earth? try one of the worst venues in NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2008 5:06 PM

Rubulad is the greatest party on earth. Everyone knows THAT.

I still don't know why everyone thinks this venue is so bad. I've been to a ton of shows at Webster Hall, and only one was crappy. That show was Bloc Party, and that was bad because they aren't very good live, not the venue. There are much worse venues in NYC.

Over-priced beer too

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2008 5:41 PM

^ Every venue in Manhattan has overpriced beer.

"security straight offa animalplanet."

I've never been searched or frisked at the door at Webster Hall. I can't say that about Roseland, Hammerstein, Irving or MSG. Webster Hall's main offense is having overpriced drinks. But so do most other venues.

link worked for mee..

Been to plenty of shows there. Most are OK, however, there have been a few when the bass from downstairs completely ruined shows. definitely ruined an otherwise great Mountain Goats show, as well as an unfazed Jens Lekman, who just said fuck it and changed the rhythm on the fly...but yea, webster hall can blow.

I love the really f*cking weird policy at Webster where they have a waitress standing at the bar taking orders, she then tells the bartender your order, the bartender serves the waitress, then the waitress hands you the drink, all while you're standing at the bar. I've always just played along and not asked why this happens...can someone please explain?

Webster Hall has the best October lineup of shows in NYC by far. Plus, have you seen those CMJ shows? Free?!?! awesome.

There's nary a worse venue in any borough w/ worse beer bang for your buck. I haven't had a beer at Webster Hall since before Britney stopped being hot.

Cant wait to see the show on the 25th with Preacher and the Knife, Apache Beat, Dragons of Zynth and Fresh Kills

Lit has the same policy.

Webster Hall was fun in the mid'90s when they had bands play on the small side stage while dance music was playing in the main halls. You could watch bands play, go upstairs and dance with some chick, then get a blowjob in the reggae room downstairs. The place hasn't been the same in ten years, but then again, my clubbing days are behind me.

I used to boycott the place as a concert venue, but the recent renovation was a big improvement. They still turn up the heat though.

a BJ from a he/she.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2008 3:15 AM

they always play the music too loud - and then I can't enjoy the show.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2008 5:28 AM

dan deacon loves webster hall!

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2008 9:15 AM

of course the beer is overpriced. what you wanna do is go to the continental before the show and get two of the "specials" in rapid succession.

5 shots of anything for $10 x 2 = no need to buy $7 beers at webster

anyone who knows anything knows that.

Dan, I'm talking about security clobbering and choking people on the street for no apparent reason. At least I do not consider a verbal argument about getting ejected such. This is not hear say. I witnissed this myself passing by. And yes, I caught enough of the situation to make a fair call on this. Again, skrew Webster Hall.

Oh, and I like your audio stuff too :-)

cheers

Well played.

the last show i went to at webster the line to get in was unforgivable, i think we waited almost an 1 hour and 45 mins to get in, standing in the rain. everyone had bought tickets online already but the policy was will call only. they had a few people working the door marking peoples names off of a list. from my experience, this ALWAYS results in a lot of wasted time getting in the door and is just a huge clusterfuck in general.

getting people inside a venue isn't really that complicated especially when the patrons have already purchased tickets.

it's pretty surprising that some established venues in nyc are still clueless on how to do this in an efficient manner.

Why is everyone on here so angry?

Posted by Alexis | October 3, 2008 10:00 PM

I like Webster Hall because it's easier to smoke weed in there than Bowery.

Posted by THE TRUTH | October 3, 2008 11:18 PM

FOR REALZ? man, i seen so many people get picked off smoking weed in webster i stopped trying a while ago...perception sure is a funny thing.

i hate the sound at mercury lounge.glad to see bands of this size have somewhere else to play.good first week line ups.

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2008 6:46 PM

Mighty High will be blowing the roof off this place on Thursday October 30th. Also appearing - The Murderlators (NYC's best Misfits tribute band) and Gimmiehead (world's greatest Motorhead tribute).

Posted by Woody | October 6, 2008 1:18 PM

Finally! A venue the size of Mercury that can compete. If you compare CMJ lineups, the STUDIO's is far better then Mercury's. not that im keeping out....
