anyone know what kind of software that computer is running? How much is actually being played live with M83? I've heard School of Seven Bells plays a lot of stuff on a backing track as well. Anyone who was there know?

I believing he's running Ableton Live in the arrangement view, and yes...the show was pretty fucking epic.

School of Seven Bells totally play over the, may I say so, SAME pre-recorded track. It's not really the same, but there's little variation, it's almost like it. Boring, a disappointment.
M83 was great! As you may know drums, synths and guitars are live, rest is tracking.
Anthony does some knobbing wizardry. The guitarist seem to play power chords, but I believe there's some guitar recording in a couple of tracks.
The songs don't sound exactly the same either. I believe they have a good balance of prerecorded/live music.

I didn't know it was possible for the crowd to clap off beat, but at certain times during m83's set, you did it!

I know! It was pretty fucking ridiculous. I HAD TO KEEP THE BEAT FOR TEEN ANGST, come on. That's pretty simple. The dude like 5 feet away from me was creating his own subrhythms...it was TERRIBLE.

Does anyone have the set list? And what was the song they played for the encore? Was that Couleurs? Thanks.
Posted by Anonymous | November 15, 2008 11:48 PM
The only setlist was near the guitarist, and yes, the encore was Couleurs.

Thanks, madmang, for the confirmation.
Also, I meant does anyone know what the set list was? Can anyone post it?

@ 5:34PM
The computer is mos def running Ableton. I think the computer just handles synths and other ambient sounds. I know that School Of Seven Bells only uses a computer for drum performance (since there are only 3 of them) that is triggered by Ben Curtis' feet, the rest is played by the band (2 guitars and 1 synth).
