I have a few of their songs on my ipod but I really don't know what the fuss is about them. I think they are pretty lame which is why their stage show is so outrageous. Still seeing a horse on stage at a small venue is always worth the price of admission.

Stage show = compensation for shitty band
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 11:18 AM
listen to "hissing fauna are you the destroyer?" that album is one of the best indie releases of the decade.
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 11:19 AM
who is opening for them in NY?
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 11:22 AM
I'm glad the initial commenters are so unenthused, as this show will probably be sold out less than ten minutes from now and I don't need the competition.

Yea, I got two as well. you can expect it not to sell out in seconds when they just played roseland
Posted by Kate | November 20, 2008 11:37 AM
not sold out yet. I got some, then went back to see if they were still available. I was able to hold one.
i dont need it though. so in about 2:30 minutes it will be released for others to buy.

What is the big deal about this band? Is it their stageshow which is the cause for it to sell out in seconds?
It surely can't be entirely the music. I'm not one of these stupid assholes who say a band sucks and that is that. I have my opinion but am curious as to what the draw is. I can think of plenty of bands I would rather spend my money on before Of Outback.
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 11:53 AM
ho ho ho, of outback.
Clearly you not liking their music means no one else possibly can.
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 11:55 AM
11:53 its the idea of the spectacle of the show occuring in such a small and intimate (compared to the roseland/amphitheater tour) venue as the music hall of williamsburg
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 11:55 AM
ticketmaster was sucking ass for me. i was ticked off, and then I realized I had Neil Young tickets for the same night. No harm, no foul. I'll be seeing a better show anyway.
Posted by wembley | November 20, 2008 11:56 AM
i have a feeling this isn't going to be one of their giant stage shows.
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 12:03 PM
got one the moment it went on sale.
any idea how long it took to sell out?
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 12:04 PM
Well, it's not truly sold out. That's the good news. The sales will continue outside ticketmaster. Not to worry.
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 12:12 PM
Like how? Venue box office?
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 12:30 PM
i think what he means is that theres already a post on craigslist asking for $150 =/
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 12:36 PM
a bunch on ebay already too.
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 12:42 PM
There's an afterparty at the brand new Outback Steakhouse in Williamsburg (where Peter Luger's used to be).
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 1:40 PM
I really wish scalping was illegal in NYC. It guarantees that douchebags with more money than sense will be all over shows like this.
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 1:41 PM
Okay, i laughed at the afterparty at Outback Williamsburg comment
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 2:33 PM
11:53 - In response to my post above, you obviously are a fool and can't comprehend what I was saying.
I was saying I don't give a fuck if you listen to Of Montreal. I just wanted to know what the appeal was. You can listen to Of Montreal all fucking afternoon while you strut down city blocks and window shop at each sex store for all I care.
And I am totally at the afterparty at Outback.
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 5:18 PM
^^listen to their music and you will understand the appeal
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 6:42 PM
Tears fall. Can't believe this sold out so fast. they did a show at Oberlin last year, and instead of being in the "cool" venue they somehow got set up to play in a gym. The vibe was not right, and the band did not seem very into it, Kevin barnes even making some sardonic, "don't give a fuck about this stupid show" jokes. Very sad and I love their new album so was hoping for a 2nd chance to appreciate them and see what i've heard so much about. TEARS

5:18 - If you have already heard them and know what they're like surely you can guess that perhaps what people like is.. how they sound? Why do you need someone to explain to you what is appealing about a band? The sound you don't like is what their fans do like. Crazy stuff man!

Question: Coming from out of town with a friend and never been to the music hall.. Friend is 20 so how strict are they about ID? Do they have scanners or would a fake work?
Posted by Anonymous | November 20, 2008 11:31 PM
anon 11:31- don't worry, it's only 16+
Posted by Anonymous | November 21, 2008 12:03 AM
Yeah but for drinks. I assumed they'd check and give wristbands. Do they scan?
Posted by Anonymous | November 21, 2008 12:18 AM
they check and give wristbands... dont remember there being a scanner, fake should be fine
Posted by kate | November 21, 2008 11:59 AM
Just bought two for $75 each :(
I felt like a sucker doing it, but I'm afraid I won't get another chance to see them somewhere the size of MHOW.
