WTF is Ponytail's deal? Saw them play the BV showcase at CMJ and, aside from being deafening, I got nothing out of their set. Sure, the guitarist and drummer have some impressive chops, but everything sounded the same to me... LOUD and muddled, and I'm not even talking about the incoherent babble of lyrics she adds to the mix.

Can someone please explain why they've gotten hyped so much lately?

yeah is there any possible way this band is good live? on the album, the music is pretty good, but then the "vocals" are just grating and frustrating.

I like how the singer for Ponytail holds the mic like an ice cream cone at all times.

Ponytail is heaven-sent, really

Ponytail rules. They were so much fun at that show, too bad Skirball is basically impossible to stand in. Yeasayer were boring as hell, though. Graffiti Monsters' drummer and Gameboyist were excellent, but the guitarist was pretty average, IMO.

i have to say i agree with 2:13, id say top 3 live acts of 2008 : Ponytail, Crystal Castles, Dan Deacon.

I don't know if I'd go as far as best live act of 2008, but it was definitely an awesome show.

And I thought the exact opposite about Yeasayer-- probably the most engaging I've ever seen them in concert.
