Beach House & Tickley Feather @ MHOW, NYC - pics

Beach House

"Victoria Legrand's voice live was everything I had imagined it to be and more. Her voice is so sultry and dreamy, it almost hypnotizes me, I get completely sucked in. It's the kind of voice that you can feel resonating in your stomach. I guess it's kind of like Cat Power, but also very very different." [Sonia Evers]
Beach House headlined Music Hall of Williamsburg on Tuesday (12/9). More tour dates HERE. More pictures from that show below...

you mislabeled each band FYI

For the record this show was insanely good. The crowd was FREAKING OUT

They sounded incredible.

that's not victoria legrand

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2008 4:58 PM

damn it. fixed, thanks!

Posted by brooklynvegan | December 12, 2008 5:06 PM

hope she was not as insufferably annoying as she was at the bowery in april. that show completely ruined the band for me.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2008 5:34 PM

"Tickley Feather" = silliest band name ever.

Sorry, it just is.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2008 5:46 PM

how was Victoria annoying at Bowery? I was at that show (unless there were 2 nights there)
and I had a great time. The music was better sounding this time though. Music Hall has better sound than bowery, there I said it.

why does everyone look so sad watching these bands? i miss when bands played real live instruments not just sitting in front of some knobs and petals. guess you just gotta be real stoned.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2008 6:42 PM

keyboards, guitars, drums, microphones. definitely not real instruments. its 2008 dude, get over it.

Posted by mcg | December 12, 2008 7:18 PM

Just saw these guys here in Boston. Great, although their set list at Siren was a bit better.

Anon 6:42..ure a knob

Those projections they use really make the show interesting.

Also, that one fat dude obnoxiously gyrating was very distracting.

Great, great show. Talked to Victoria after too, and she's super sweet.

Beach House is amazing. Best album of 2008. woot woot.

this looks like the most boring thing to sit through... just look at those dead expressions on the audience's faces. that's it, indie/underground/whatever is dead. too many indie shows nowadays look like middle school recitals at a suburban conservatory.

Posted by Anonymous | December 13, 2008 10:15 AM

self hater

Posted by pjx | December 13, 2008 10:28 AM

dead expressions? they are completely hypnotized. you're an idiot. go jump around with some beer soaked nyu frat dudes at a girl talk show.

I think the argument of people not dancing or "looking sad" as being a LAME INDIE DEAD INSIDE thing is ridiculous. Guess what there are different kinds of music, if you want to dance around go to a Girl Talk show. I'll take Beach House anyday. They were mesmerizing and amazing. I loved every minute of it.

Well you make a good point but the first commenter said "the crowd was FREAKING OUT" and I suppose they are in a "I can't believe granny is dead" kind of freaking out. Honestly some of those audience members look like they are attending a funeral. Now whare are the pix from the Butthole Surfers show, lets see some serious freaking out!

Posted by Anonymous | December 13, 2008 12:15 PM

black moth's projections during beach house were unstoppable!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 13, 2008 1:16 PM

The crowd was freaking out with cheers. Photographer only shot them during songs, not during applause.

Posted by Anonymous | December 13, 2008 1:22 PM

tickley is way hotter than victoria beach

...

i'd tickle it

Posted by Anonymous | December 13, 2008 4:52 PM

^^YOU on crack.

Tickly looks like a mousish british girl with red cheeks. Victoria is much cuter in person and a real firecracker. Waaaay sexier.

^^
YOU on PCP

have you ever seen the tickley feather - sex face 7'' single cover?

fire!

"go jump around with some beer soaked nyu frat dudes at a girl talk show."

nah, what i had in mind was more like jumping around beer soaked with a huge smile on my face at a guided by voices concert. or that vaselines concert last summer. or the breeders. you know, bands with some life in them.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2008 12:38 AM

Though I am a huge fan of Beach House, I've gotta say-- I saw Tickley Feather open for Animal Collective this past January, and I just didn't get it. Not very engaging or musical, in my opinion.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2008 12:39 AM

I found Beach House to be quite boring at CMJ. The crowd was equally unimpressive, which is also reflected here. The audience looks like they want to kill themselves. Maybe they're just stoned?

...or perhaps the crowd at the CMJ show and crowd shown here are just a bunch of scenesters seeing a some hippie hipsters on stage.

Thanks - I've only been making video for them on special occasions so you guys witnessed a rare playdate.

I'm making some video for them for the next Round Robin shows in Baltimore, too, if anyone will be there.

Posted by blackmoth | December 14, 2008 3:22 AM

"playdate" is indeed an apt word for this band. music for toddlers. and not in a good way.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2008 9:33 AM

love the used to be video.

"nah, what i had in mind was more like jumping around beer soaked with a huge smile on my face at a guided by voices concert. or that vaselines concert last summer. or the breeders. you know, bands with some life in them."

this is such a fucking dorky douche answer

your taste is keWL

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2008 9:28 PM

oh shit you put me in my place... i didn't know what "kewl" meant though, so i had to check the Urban Dictionary. here's what it said:

KEWL -

A stupid way of spelling "cool". Made up by morons.
"I'm a stupid whore who spells cool 'kewl'."

so, does that mean you think i'm a stupid whore who spells cool 'kewl'? or does it mean you're a stupid whore who etc etc

who cares... one thing for sure: lifeless indie music in the 00's still sucks ass.

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2008 10:50 PM

kewl

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 10:18 AM

anyone who uses the term "insufferably" should be shot in the head and their brains splattered on the wall behind their fat pathetic tiny dicked asses.
If you're a girl, then get fucked.
YOU are insufferably annoying.

Posted by blogfucker | December 15, 2008 6:03 PM

TICKLEY FEATHER is a real favorite of mine but I heard she is into infantilism.
