Bell & Claymation Velociraptor @ the Bell House, NYC - pics
photos by Kyle Dean Reinford

Kyle was one of the few who caught the show at the Bell House in Brooklyn last night (12/18). Bands on the bill were The Ballet, Bell, Claymation Velociraptor, Quinn Walker and Holy Hail. He says,
Claymation Velociraptor was my biggest surprise of the night. They came out in bear suits - apparently their normal thing - and played a freaking great set. A bit Chromeo-esque, but with a very dry sense of humor mixed in. The audience had a huge smile on their collective face throughout this set.He was also impressed with Quinn Walker, Bell's dancing skills, and Bell. He said she was...
...fantastic. A short set (40 minutes or so), but she played all of the songs off her EP which I love and at least one brand new song. Oh, we also sang happy birthday to Sarah. Apparently every performer there knew Sarah somehow. I don't know who she is.More pictures below...

"Kyle was one of the few who caught the show at the Bell House in Brooklyn last night"
does this mean:
a) it was sold out and he was one of the lucky few to be there, or
b) there was nobody there because it's approaching the end of december and this venue is in the middle of nowhere
which?

At least they are not wasting money on electricity for stage lights. Do all acts have to play in the dark?
Kyle is a great photographer, but even he can't take decent pictures in that lighting. His flash is probably the only way anyone could see anything on stage!

The Bell House is a 7-minute walk from a R train, and it's in a very safe section of town. It also happens to be one of the best places to see bands, and the separate bar is a huge plus. Blame the weeknight, blame the time of year, but don't blame where the venue is.

I would blame it because the bands sucked.

These pictures don't appear to have been taken with flash

you mean the middle of nowhere?

It really is a great venue -- great sound, beautiful, comfortable space, and friendly people working there. Don't knock it til you've tried it -- and definitely easier to get to than you think.

I have been following you for a couple of months not (sometimes quietly) and I really admire all that you have done.
