Cat PowerCat Power

For Christmas 2008, CATPOWER presents a 6-song deluxe double-gatefold 10" vinyl and digital EP composed of tracks recorded for Jukebox (January 2008) but not released on that album. In keeping with the theme of the Jukebox album, all songs are covers.

Below is the track listing. The name in parentheses belongs to the performer(s) who popularized the song:

1. Dark End Of The Street (James Carr, Aretha Franklin) *
2. Fortunate Son (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
3. Ye Auld Triangle (The Pogues) *
4. I've Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now) (Otis Redding)
5. Who Knows Where The Time Goes (Sandy Denny / Fairport Convention) *
6. It Ain't Fair (Aretha Franklin)

The Dark End Of The Street EP is available at Matador.

Cat Power is playing the Apollo Theater in NYC on February 6th and 7th. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday December 24th at 10am.

hell's yeah! perfect venue for her.

Why the hell can't she sing her own material? She's always doing covers and posing for cameras instead of performing, she's got a great voice but she's incredibly boring.

when was the last time she actually wrote & recorded a song of her own? incredibly predictable. and boring.

Classic example of someone talking herself out of her own talent.

She's purty.

(lol)cat power.

she used to really have it, she doesn't have it so much anymore. it'd probably be cool to see her at the apollo though.

Like Jukebox, the ep is weak. She needs to go back doing what she did on her first few releases. I haven't seen her live this year but the tour for her last cd was very good after years of awful live perfomances.

Hmmm, apparently the tix are not available on ticketmaster yet. I've never seen her life as I am not too fond of her latest stuff; but I agree on the Apollo being a marvelous choice for a performance by her.

Dear Chan,
You stood me up on Valentine's Day in 2006 at Town Hall. Remember? Yes? No? Don't even try to think these shows will make up for that.

umm... I believe the rescheduled town hall shows more than made up for her canceling the valentine's day show. (plus, I managed to get better seats for the rescheduled show.)
