Golden Animals

"A few years back, Tommy Eisner was a bowl-haired alt-folkie strumming wintry ballads in Brooklyn and palling around with Moldy Peaches crooner Adam Green. The Tommy Eisner who performs around town [this] week--at the Cake Shop and Santos Party House, both December 10, and at Don Pedro in Brooklyn, the following night--may be unrecognizable to anyone who remembers him. Reflecting the influence of his new home, Los Angeles--albeit that city circa 1969--Eisner now has enough facial hair and paisley-guru duds to resemble an extra in a Charles Manson biopic."
That quote is from NY Magazine who asks, "Golden Animals fled Williamsburg for L.A.'s bluesier pastures. Will Brooklyn welcome them back?". All tour dates below...

I miss two things. 1 the phrase true that. 2 i miss high paced energy filled songs. can we stop with the sombre, locked in the cabin in the woods alone vibe already? c'mon.

"screw it, let't just use the word ANIMALS instead of naming ourselves after an animal."
they need to be taken out into the pasture and shot.
I hate how all the blogs and magazines just reprint the same press release and photo.
hype at it's worst - never heard of these guys two seconds ago, now I have to hear about them every 15 minutes.

All of the above should listen to the record before you wax L train banter - This band is making classic rock and roll music -uptempo,and riff heavy with Jack Nietzsche & Golden Dawn type arrangements -truly Malkmus-esque- Music sounds best when heard.

^^^^ Thank you, Tommy Eisner's girlfriend.

bottom line is somebody's daddy could afford a PR agency.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2008 3:26 PM

Bottom line- lifestyles of the L train set- read blogs, post with out hearing a note, and call mom for extra cash rent till next semester starts. (and work for a major answering phones for an internship)
go write a song, track a record- and go on tour- perhaps mom can help with that too.

hey Magnum PR and friends,
we've all heard this before, it was called the 60's.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2008 3:49 PM

Hey Mom--go back to your soap operas and leave the sarcasm to the rest of us. Golden Animals are derivative, posed, and uninteresting. Much like your life as a housewife. We've listened to this tripe and it's about as original as your "L train set" quips.

Posted by Cake Shop | December 10, 2008 6:13 PM

Golden Animals must be making good music- if Rajah of Rehab decides he needs to chime in. Should be solid gig. Whenever dude spooges in the comment section- odds are the band is decent.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2008 6:46 PM

guess they couldn't decide between "bear" or "wolf"...

"golden crystals" has a certain ring to it though...doesn't it?

Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2008 9:55 AM

what a joke.
somebody's daddy actually spins like a plate on the nose of a circus clown.
this is the deeply shallow end of one fucked up gene pool.
is deeply shallow an oxymoron?
