I'm sorry, but this is a fucking weak last show.
Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2008 4:32 PM
just for the record, when I posted this, KF's site said:
"Akron/Family curates New Year's Eve featuring performances by Deerhoof, Akron/Family, Dirty Projectors, Deer Tick, Megafaun, tons more - a full-club event!"
Now it says:
"Akron/Family curates New Year's Eve! Featuring performances by Deerhoof, Akron/Family, Dirty Projectors, Deer Tick, Megafaun, tons more & very special surprise guests - a full-club farewell to the Leonard Street Knit!"

i can't believe someone thinks a show of folks who could individually sell out the knit is a weak last show. have fun at crystal castles, loser.
Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2008 4:36 PM
aw snap - is HARD BOP on that shit?

i think it's a weak last show because these bands all suck. and crystal castles suck, too. but nice try guessing who i like!

I always hated The Knitting Factory---both locations. I won't miss it and Luna Lounge isn't the best venue either.
Posted by TWB | December 10, 2008 4:53 PM
this is a freakin awesome bill, and if it's really all three floors, there are probably like a zillion more lineup additions to look forward to. Knitting Factory if you're reading this, please add Lemonade, Crystal Stilts, Grizzly Bear, and Animal Collective.
Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2008 4:54 PM
MMJ will be a nice long 4 hour jam with 7 dollar beers but I'd rather be stuck downtown in the middle of nowhere then caught in all that times square new years traffic. I don't know why i guess it's because I'm so indie
Posted by anonymous2 | December 10, 2008 4:54 PM
"MMJ fools"
I agree. Anyone going to MMJ is a fool.

Why are you comparing your "good time" with others?
Dummies.
Enjoy your NYE shows.

who goes to a show on NYE? how about getting together with friends and friends of friends and getting f*cked up and party! instead of $7 beers and standing around at some bar or venue.

"who goes to a show on NYE? how about getting together with friends and friends of friends and getting f*cked up and party! instead of $7 beers and standing around at some bar or venue."
Um well my friends are going to the show with me and then we're gonna go out after the show and drink and do drugs all night...
Posted by Brussel Sprout | December 10, 2008 6:48 PM
Yeah I could see someone wanting to go to a show on NYE, but I would much rather just party with friends. The only NYE show I ever almost went to was Flaming Lips/Wilco/Sleater Kinney at MSG.

NYE live music shows are the best. no better way to bring in the year. i alternate tho. parties are fun too. i guess it starts from the dead doing NYE runs...

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2008 8:21 PM
elliott's last show in new york was at northsix the night after knitting.
on the topic of best ofs at knitting, the best band discoveries made there were interpol & explosions in the sky. and as much as i didn't care much for the venue or location, it still holds a lot of memories.

>>>but what about crystal stilts?
I believe the idea is to stay up past midnight, not to put everyone to sleep.
Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2008 3:00 PM
can someone please tell me why they like crystal stilts? yuck.
Posted by Anonymous | December 11, 2008 3:58 PM
"can someone please tell me why they like crystal stilts? yuck."
Because they're good, though I wouldn't equate anyone that uses the word "yuck" to have good taste, so I'm not surprised you don't like them. Really it's not your fault. You are just lesser developed than most.

Beginner-level guitar chords + off-key vocals + snare-only drums + all out of sync = good?
I guess if you bury any crap under a ton of reverb it sounds "good" to some ears.

truth

Crystal Stilts are already playing there December 20th, so I doubt they'll play NYE too.
The Knitting Factory invited their friends to curate full-club shows during their last month in that location - Anti-Pop Consortium, WNYU, Anticon, Nick from Islands, Oneida, Akron Family ...
