Johny Lydon

The native Londoner, who grew up on a council estate in north London, looked like a fish of a water as he poses uncomfortably in a tweed jacket, plus fours and a yellow waistcoat.
The 52-year-old's country squire outfit was a far cry from his usual outfit of jeans and a ripped t-shirt.
Despite his Lord of the Manor ensemble, Johnny Rotten's punk persona was still evident thanks to his messy, dyed red spiked hair and multiple ear piercings. [MailOnline]
Speaking of musicians we know contributing to commercials, rajohn sends in this video today that we haven't posted yet (and which was also on Chunklet Friday). It's none other than John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols aka mortal enemy of Kele from Bloc Party aka a man with smooth dance moves aka the new UK Country Life butter spokesman...

Speaking of punks, I finally got around to watching Julian Temple's Joe Strummer bio "The Future Is Unwritten". Great flick - highly recommended.

Yeah, 'cause in order to be punk you have to be a certain way. Just like all the other punks ... you know, exactly the same.

/who cares anyway?

Honestly, what's more punk than a punk doing a butter commercial?

Fuck the Sex Pistols.

Anyway, the Future is Unwritten is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. One of the three DVDs I bought in the past few years (Kid Dynamite - Four Years in One Gulp + Refused DVD)

Our record contract and other obligations prohibit me from divulging the information of our upcoming release.

I will only mention that we are working with Slayer, and Wolves in the Throne.

"The 52-year-old's country squire outfit was a far cry from his usual outfit of jeans and a ripped t-shirt."

Typical journalistic bullshit...Johnny never ever wears anything as pedestrian as jeans.

That's really, really sad. "You're a really sad person" . "Public image, you got what you wanted".

How come you didn't mention his appearance in the UK on 'I'm a celebrity, get me out of here', with a load of 'Z' list celebrities.

And also Marky Ramone with Tommy Hilfiger's collaboration 'Hilfiger Denim', where Hilfiger has put another nail in the the Ramones logo's coffin.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2008 12:56 PM

punk was long dead before the sex pistols even existed.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2008 1:02 PM

punk never existed....man

I love how all you self-righteous assholes can criticize a guy from trying to pay the rent. As if the Sex Pistols and the Ramones never wanted commercial success. Of course they did.

Maybe someday you'll be fortunate enough to do a butter commercial.
