why do people care about this idiot?

Gov. David A. Paterson’s office criticized a skit on this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” in which Mr. Paterson, who is legally blind, was portrayed as disoriented and buffoonlike.

The governor’s communications director, Risa B. Heller, said on Sunday that the skit amounted to nothing more than cheap ridicule — a surprisingly strong reaction considering that the governor is well known for making light of his vision problems.

“The governor engages in humor all the time, and he can certainly take a joke,” Ms. Heller said in a statement. “However, this particular ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit unfortunately chose to ridicule people with physical disabilities and imply that disabled people are incapable of having jobs with serious responsibilities.

“The governor is sure that ‘Saturday Night Live’ with all of its talent can find a way to be funny without being offensive,” Ms. Heller added.

And I thought he was bad before... I can't wait to hear him cry about not getting an award for those songs!

Posted by Marissa Adele | December 15, 2008 10:06 AM

god that's terrible.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 10:10 AM

Those performances were pretty bad. The background screen was kinda cool though.

Brooklyn Vegan.. MTV for hipsters.. who gives a shit about Kanye? Can we please stop talking about him?

Posted by Matt | December 15, 2008 10:32 AM

Ditto that. Please stop posting about Kanye. No one cares about him and he sucks. This was proven once again, live on SNL.

Kanye was pretty bad... I actually like him.

Thank God.

shoulda had the autotuner turned on but otherwise good. i like him, the hip-hop Muhammad Ali. He's always taking risks and moving forward, like a real artist.

Fred Armisen is trying to steal my spotlight!

Posted by Kanye West | December 15, 2008 11:33 AM

that was a terrible performance. Is he tone deaf?

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 11:35 AM

Ali was a better rapper than Kanye...hell, Ali was a better singer than Kanye...and I'm surprised that Paterson saw the sketch...bwah ha ha

95% of posters on this site are haters!

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 12:11 PM

i've been saying this since his first album: what a talentless hack.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 12:18 PM

I liked it.
Then again I'm a Kanye apologist. But it's leagues better than the Conan performance. His voice sounds awful though.

If Kanye's the hip-hop Ali then I'm guessing this must be his rope-a-dope phase. On the matter of SNL - wow, Kanye West AND House??? Who says this tired and bloated wreck of pseudo-entertainment is well past its overdue date?

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 1:17 PM

I like the part in his career where he tries to sing!

Posted by greg | December 15, 2008 1:22 PM

the background screens were awesome!

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 1:48 PM

I was there, it was very nice the night!

Posted by Digitalkameras | December 15, 2008 1:59 PM

Isn't that device supposed to HELP you sing? Oh my Lord, imagine if he didn't have it?

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 2:14 PM

um 2:14, that's kinda the point - he's not using it in the performance and thus sounds like crap.

I've never been a HUGE Kanye West fan, but I absolutely admire the risks he takes as an artist. He could have lip synched, used an auto tuner, covered his sound with a backing choir, but chose not to use any of these tricks. You must admit that his performance was brave, thoughtful and entertaining. Just the kind of courage this industry needs to move forward. After this performance I immediately downloaded the new cd. Lyrically and sonically it is brilliant. Lastly, I also find it odd that the majority of those who chose to trash his performance posted anonymously. If you are serious about your comments, why hide your identity?

Posted by Marvin | December 15, 2008 2:27 PM

Kanye both produces his tracks and writes his own lyrics.

And he is not half bad. Fuck man.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 2:48 PM

Kanye is a loser. A rich mega-producer/artist...but no doubt a loser as a human being.

And I liked Gov. Peterson until he recently alleged that referring to Obama as a "Community Organizer" is somehow racist.

In the Heartless clip at the 1:05 point he says "John this is wrong"...the wrong screen images were being shown. Someone is gonna lose their job!

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 3:14 PM

marvin, what the hell are you talking about? giving yourself a first-name on an internet message board doesn't make you any less anonymous than those who use no name at all.

courage doesn't trump talent, and his talent is definitely not singing.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 3:18 PM

Oh yeah he's a brave, courageous, admirable risk taker because he didn't lip synch. GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 3:38 PM

Kanye is brave because he breaks his mac book air responding to truthful comments about how bad he sucks. Thats the only bravery he has.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 3:41 PM

anonymous, what the hell are you talking about? by being able to type my name and address me, it makes me less anonymous.

Posted by Marvin | December 15, 2008 4:23 PM

at the end of the day most of you are still mooching off mom and dad in brooklyn and kanye is laughing all the way to the bank STFU and stop bitching. this blog has turned into the special olympics; at the end no one wins and your all fucking retarded.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 11:48 PM

His rap was always mediocre, but he should not start singing, please no.
