Quasi @ Knitting Factory, NYC - pics
photos by Faith-Ann Young

The Manhattan branch of the Knitting Factory is soon coming to a close. Final shows this month have included an Anticon cLOUDDEAD reunion, a WNYU show with Pylon, a big benefit for NY Cares, and a night of bands curated by Quasi. The latter was this past Satuday night, December 20th. More pictures from Quasi's headlining set below....

One night later, Quasi member Janet Weiss also showed up to play drums with Yo La Tengo at Maxwell's.

I have to agree the whole night was staggeringly awesome, including the weird movies in the basement.
Janet Weiss puts most drummers to shame, I mean I think she's one of all time greats.

She really is one of the best drummers of all time.

She's an ok drummer but seriously...would you hit that??? thought not..

Her beats are great, but she can't keep time most of the time live.

Great shots... You caught me in the last shot with my orange shirt ;D

I used to live in Portland in the heyday of Quasi and Sleater Kinney
I don't know about now, but in those days Janet Weiss was a well known coldhearted, scene climbing witch

In NYC she's a lesser known coldhearted, scene climbing witch

"She really is one of the best drummers of all time"
No... but she is good for a girl. Maybe in the top 50 female drummers.

In the top 50 female drummers? Are you on crack? Easily in the top 5 female drummers kid.

Id say just behind Keith Moon. Better than Bonham, Peart or anyone else you can name
Posted by Anonymous | December 23, 2008 4:59 PM
wait, that's a joke, right? better than bonham?

fuck, when is quasi just gonna do a huge tour??

If you don't think she's seriously one of the modern greats based solely on drumming or are bringing up some kinda "scene climbing" or "time keep" bullshit then you are letting your ego's or some weird envy get in the way which is pathetic. Keith Moon would love this shit! Janet is the bee's knees.
