looks like they're finally abandoning the artistic dead end that is "power violence" noise

lookin good!

You will have a chance to see anyone but sonic youth from this list.

Sonic Youth = SY = Sigh...

I went to last No Fun Fest for Cluster (totally worth it) and Keith Fullerton Whitman (his set was meh, but I still like him enough to try again when he's next in town). I thought Emeralds was good, and they are playing again at this one.

And the last time I saw Bardo Pond my ears rang for a full day after. (Mercury Lounge has a great sound system for a small place.)

if "Black Puss" is different than "Black Pus," i'll be mildly disappointed.

Posted by Isfet | December 15, 2008 11:52 AM

Emeralds are fucking transcendent. "Powerviolence" is less a noise conceit than it is a punk/crust conceit.

Sonic Youth songs or Sonic Youth noise? Either way should be awesome.

that is what i am wondering 1:50, but I agree

Nooo idea what he/she is talking about....

That's because you are a crazy person who is into he/shes.

Sonic Youth are too big for this festival. It will turn out that 90% will only go for SY and ignore the rest.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 9:07 PM

yeah. as much as that usually ends up annoying me, i'll probably go only to see sonic youth. they're the only band out of all of them i'm into, and seeing them at a fairly small place like mhow would be cool. hopefully they're doing a real set though and not just noise.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2008 9:31 PM

they won't be playing sy songs if that's what you mean.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2009 1:56 AM

yeah, can someone explain what kind of set/how long they will be playing? i've never been to one of these before. thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2009 6:58 PM

yeah approx set times?

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2009 4:02 PM
