the King Khan & BBQ Show @ the Wired Store, NYC - pics
photos by Kurt Christensen

"The Wired Store is the ultimate pop up Christmas boutique. They have every tricked out electric gizmo that one never needs but thinks he does. I'll take one of each, thanks. Guests drank and played with toys and video games. Epson was taking pictures in the front to show off their high quality color printer. It was King Khan & BBQ's third NYC show in less than a week. More pictures from yesterday's store party, below...Anthology Recordings showcased a performance by King Khan and BBQ Show." [Socially Superlative]

shows are best when they're promotional events for yuppie gadget magazines and printer companies

This douche needs to get punched by the guy from Mastodon again. In fact this guy getting his ass kicked should be Mastodon's opening act.

I rsvp'd. I walked by looked in and saw 6 yapperheads with cameras. I almost went home and then I thought " when is the next time these 2 are gonna play nyc?"
On this alone I walked in grabbed a free beck's and looked around. Played with expensive gadgets and didn't want to be there.
By the time they finished their set, I was very happy I stayed. True Rock N Roll and I don't care what you say. It's the best TRASH out there.

weird how any band with a goofy retarded or eccentric style gets accused of "mere" gimmickry. It's like saying Bo Diddley or Jerry Lee Lewis or Ramones was gimmick rock. KK&BBQ's sin is that they dress up funny & don't take themselves too seriously. They also have better songs than most "regular" bands. They're a v good trashy rock band, no more a gimmick than the Dirtbombs, Black Keys or Black Lips.
