Girls Girls Girls

More tribute band news...
You thought Bowery Presents couldn't announce any more New Years Eve shows. Then you remember they can stay open super late that night which means they can host shows after other shows. Such is the case with the Mr. Brownstone show happening at Mercury Lounge. Doors are 2 AM - after the A Place to Bury Strangers show. The Guns N' Roses cover band will be playing "Appetite For Destruction" in its entirety (or until they pass out). Tickets are on sale.
Mr. Brownstone played Irving Plaza with Satanicide this past Friday, and recently appeared on Letterman. Last New Years Eve they did Music Hall of Williamsburg.
And speaking of cover bands performing entire albums, Pinktallica, an "All Chick Tribute to Metallica", will be performing "Kill Em All" right before Girls Girls Girls (all girls, Motley Crue), will be playing "Shout At The Devil". This all also happens at Mercury Lounge, but on January 17th. Tickets are on sale for that too. I can't find a website for Pinktallica, so I know nothing about them, but they're my favorite band, just based on their name (and their choice of album to cover), in this post.
Last but not least, the extremely popular Beatles cover band, The Fab Faux, has two shows coming up at Terminal 5. On December 26th they perform "Abbey Road" and "Let it Be" (tickets), and on December 27th, "The White Album" (tickets).
More dates at their site.

Fab Faux are not to be missed. Too bad it's at Terminal 5. Worst layout for a concert venue ever. And unfortunately, their crowd isn't up to date on concert etiquette, so be prepared to be pushed past by a bunch of fat, middle-aged assholes all night.
However, if you can get past all that, these will be amazing shows. The band is fantastic.

Free blowjobs at Brownstone.

I am really torn. I want to see them, but I will never set foot in T5 again. That place needs to be demo'd and completely rebuilt. It's absolutely awful.

how does one play "The White Album" live... ?
Posted by Anonymous | December 2, 2008 2:50 PM
^^
Ask Phish, they did it quite well.

Phish playing The White Album was a disaster, absolutely horrible. The Fab Faux, on the other hand, play it perfectly. They even recreate 'Revolution 9' live using the original recordings that Lennon sampled to make the original track.
Trust me, if you're a Beatles fan, you will not regret seeing The Fab Faux. They are THE Beatles cover band. Accept no (other) substitute.

^^ Does any Beatles band, great or shite, NEED to play Revolution #9? I mean... really? And are you in the band? :)

"Phish playing The White Album was a disaster, absolutely horrible."
Actually, it was fantastic. Clearly you weren't there. Glad the Fab Faux fluffer gig is working out for you, though. Shit, all they do is cover the Beatles, they best be playing that shit perfectly!

They play albums front to back. So naturally, if you say you're playing The White Album, Revolution 9 will be included. And no, I'm not in the band, just appreciate their work. Will Lee (Letterman's bassist) and Jimmy Vivino (Conan's guitarist) are, however, in the band. They're all great guys who love what they do and do it better than anyone else. Even The Beatles themselves couldn't have pulled off some of this stuff as well as these guys do.
@5:23
I've heard the recording. They were under rehearsed and make more than their fair share of mistakes throughout. It may have been great if you were there and got caught up in the moment (which is understandable), but it just doesn't hold up under closer scrutiny.

The drummer for Girls Girls Girls is, perhaps, the worth time keeper in the history of rhythm. Nevertheless, that blonde lead singer gives me the wood.

"their crowd isn't up to date on concert etiquette, so be prepared to be pushed past by a bunch of fat, middle-aged assholes all night."
And that makes them different from the crowd at other shows mentioned on this blog... how?
"as if anyone who reads this blog would go to the Hawaiian Tropic Zone. Ha."
Since some people who read this blog voted for McCain, there's no telling what else this readership is capable of.
