Arcade Fire

So how lucky it is to be one of the staffers working for President Barack Obama over these past two years?

Forget the fact that you worked for a presidential candidate who won (most don't). Or that you probably got tickets to join 1.5 million people at the Inauguration. Or that you got a 50 percent discount on $150 Inaugural Ball tickets. Or that you might have moved into a desk in the West Wing of the White House today.

It gets even better. Word out today is that Arcade Fire, the super-popular Indie rock group, has come to Washington to play a private party for Mr. Obama's staff members at The Armory. (Yep, hard to believe, there's going to be ANOTHER party celebrating Mr. Obama's election). Jay-Z is also performing. [NY Times]

Stay tuned for full coverage of this event from our very own Obama/BV staffer Bao Nguyen (now you know why there haven't been many pictures taken by Bao on this website over the past year). A few minutes ago Bao texted that Arcade Fire was covering their friend Bruce Springsteen's song "Born in the USA".

Bruce performed at a more-public Obama bash on Sunday, and his new new album is now streaming at NPR.

Ted Leo likes to cover Bruce too, and he performed in DC on Monday night.

Tonight is at least the third time Jay-Z performed during his visit to DC for Obama.

Kanye West also managed to get in on the festivities.

Arcade Fire's new DVD/movie Miroir Noir is available now. Art from that above, and below...

this sounds amazing. i was surprised there was no arcade fire at the festivities so it's cool to see they were doing this secret show.

LOL at the Ron Paul lunatic site linked to at 10:19. Spare yourselves the time. Unless you want something as funny as the last season of Three's Company.

As I staffer, I can say the campaign has been very generous to us post-election...however I know nothing about anyt half off ball tickets. Everyone I know paid the full $150.

Oh wow, it really must be lucky for barack's staffers to get to enjoy rock concert at the armory.

We as American citizens are really lucky that our leaders get to enjoy rock concert at the armory as well!

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while our economy drops to the lowest levels ever seen since the great depression.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while our national DOW falls below 8000 points.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while the two biggest banks in our country are in such dire straits that their own employees are buying their own stocks just to try to keep them afloat.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while unemployment rates are about to hit double digits and every single organization in America besides Apple are laying off significant portions of their workforce.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while tension between the Israeli's and Palestinians continue to rise to an all time high, are one spark away from igniting a third world war, and gas prices are back on a rise predicted to make last summers $4/gallon look like chump change in comparison.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while Al Queda plans their next line of attack and North Korea is secretly stockpiling weapons of mass destruction far beyond what most human beings could even possibly imagine.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while violence in our cities is at an all time high and no end is in sight.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while increased global commerce and competition has caused the United States to barely even remain competent in our innovation and production abilities while our trade deficit just continues to get bigger and bigger.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while our citizens frantically wonder why their homes are worth less than half is much today as they were six years ago when they bought them (once adjusted for inflation, which is increasing so fast that by the time you read this the half will become a third)

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while our treasury decides that just "printing more money" will solve our entire financial crisis.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while the liberal media in the US sweeps all the above under the rug while they talk about the inauguration celebration festivities.

We're lucky that they get to enjoy rock concert while their new boss and commander-in-chief proclaimed yesterday that they are going to "invest in what works".

WOO HOOO party on! Hope they had a great time and that they get to enjoy more rock concert in the future...I know I would if I was a cabinet member, I mean it wouldn't be like I would have any actual work I'd have to do or problems to solve or anything.
