The first Dan Deacon post of the New Year!

Posted by Anonymous | January 4, 2009 10:17 PM

The last historical thing to happen in Baltimore was a Ray Lewis murder. Come to think of it, that might be the only historical thing in Baltimore.

hey there Brooklyn Vegan comment squad.

just saw in my Google Alerts that this got posted here, probably prematurely, but what can you do.

other than Dan Deacon, the bands involved in this show are being chosen because I really like them, not because they're very famous or, quote, "big enough"

"secret" might be a bit of a misnomer too, the bands simply are still being confirmed, and I'm not actively trying to get anyone as popular as Dan. We had asked Dirty Projectors, but unfortunately their new set will not be ready yet.

So don't be surprised if the bands I choose for Brooklyn are not "super famous." Quality versus quantity, guys.

The Brooklyn half of the bill should be finished in the next few days.

baltimore is not the new brooklyn. baltimore is baltimore. please don't come here thinking it could ever be the same. we have our own wonderful thing going.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 1:44 PM

I'd wage dollars to donuts that Matt and Kim will be there.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2009 2:39 AM

don't worry Baltimore, no one in Brooklyn gives a fuck about your little scene down there actually.

you are deluding yourself.

no one wants what you guys have. you can keep your go nowhere urban decay fantasy lifestyle to yourselves. nobody else from your scene is getting "famous." it's just a fluke you guys had any miniscule moment at all.

the wire went off the air, Baltimore's lttle minute is over.

The house party was super fun.

Posted by Philip | January 27, 2009 3:19 AM

dan deacon whatever, but every other band on the lineup is fucking amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2009 3:25 PM

Anybody know how to get tickets to this show? I've never been to this place and I gotta see Dan Deacon play before he comes back in May. Is this a show up, wait in line and hope you get in, and then pay $3 if you make it kinda place???

Posted by PurpleBadger | January 27, 2009 11:33 PM

it is, though they may have hard tickets the day of the show somewhere down the street. not sure if they do that for danbro, not in my experience, but they do for other spots.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 12:26 AM

So what time is a reasonable time to show up if doors are at 8? Never been to this place, so I have no idea how big it is.

Is it reasonable to assume it's pretty big because there are multiple stages?

Anyone know if the bands are going to play at the same time or alternate?

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 12:50 AM

^^ what time is dan deacon gonna get on? i have same questions as above too

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:44 PM

huge space. but still- probably good to show up not too late. have a feeling there are going to be a lot of people.

i doubt they are selling hard tickets. it'll probably be the same sort of deal as it was with lightning bolt in september. pray you get in. pay at door. (you probably will get in... as i said, it's a huge space.)

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:59 PM

when were talking late, do you mean show up early? or show up 8? or dont be an hour late? and how hard is it to find the place, according to facebook its like hidden.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 10:24 PM

what is up with danbro? all the shows there end up getting moved.

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2009 6:04 PM

It seems worth noting that when you call the phone number listed on the website you get a real estate company. Strange.

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2009 8:19 PM

yeah, the space is a practice space rental facility. that's real estate.

big scary conspiracy. boooo!

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2009 8:32 PM

show is at a new space, but new space is actually bigger.
