Cold War Kids @ Mercury Lounge, NYC - pics
photos by Mike Lerner

Cold War Kids were coming to NYC to play Conan O'Brien so they scheduled a small show at Mercury Lounge for that same day (yesterday, Wenesday, January 28th). I say it was "small" because the band is now headlining the much larger Terminal 5 (and going on a tour with Death Cab who are even crazier bigger). More pictures from last night below...

Glad Tom Yaps made this show happen. Did you see that gash in his finger? He's lucky to be alive.

their first album was really good. haven't heard the second album. is it worth getting? i wish photographers would take more crowd shots and post them. i love seeing shots of bands where you can see a lot of the crowd in front of them.

I have seen this band a few times and it seems the only reason people still care about them as they didn't get the same amount of hype during as other bands from their era (Clap Your Hands as one example), so they haven't gotten the same backlash. They are ok, but they aren't making any music that I am remotely interested in.

wow. umm. I for one actually still like this band (yes, I know it makes me uncool to like a indie band for more than 6 months/1 record)

Cold War Kids > Animail Collective
Most of the "critics" who make up their readers minds won't tell you that, though.

Apparently I am not as cool as everyone here, but I really like Cold War Kids, and they have put on fantastic shows each time I've seen them.
Sure, there are other bands I like more, but I'm always down for them when they are in town. Stop hating.
