Crystal Castles @ MHOW (New Years Eve late show) - pics
photos by Ryan Muir

Crystal Castles made three two NYC appearances on New Years Eve. The first two were shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, and third was an even later DJ gig they were supposed to DJ at Supreme Trading later on, but reportedly didn't show up (see comments). More pictures from the second show at MHOW, and some video, below...

No midnight countdown at the early show. OMG I totes heart NYE shows with no countdown at midnight!!!! especially when it is followed by a 50 minute set filled with sound problems!!!!!

2:30 you dont need pics. just refer to the bon jovi set from July- that'll do.
Posted by Anonymous | January 2, 2009 2:58 PM
crystal castles are clearly better musicians than MMJ and have a more sophisticated and thoughtful fan base. duh. but MMJ fans typically have better beards. so it evens out in the end.

I can't believe you posted that youtube video. It doesn't really capture anything except a lot of screaming.

3:09- were you at the show, or just pretended to be?

CC's sentimental and sappy lyrics are just what I needed at 12:03am-12:53am; When I looked around at all the E heads slobbering and groping each other. This truly illustrated their most notable line:
Robot grunts have bled each other
They wanna play with my placenta
Damn its gonna be a great 2009.

Stove burns on my hands
Show them to my friends
Make you participate
Eyes roll back around
When skulls hit the ground
Visions of the hosier

told you bro, CC will fuck you up. Try to find out who future primitive management is and you will get nowhere, they fucked up my youtube account after the studio b gig last year.
Posted by Anonymous | January 2, 2009 3:23 PM
CC should team up with Unicorn Dream Attack one of these days. That would be bitty.
Posted by Anonymous | January 2, 2009 3:35 PM
they didn't show up to DJ at supreme trading. just saying.

this band is the definition of hipster garbage. high hat drum beats and shitty electro garbage. NO talent. if i meet someone who likes this band i usually dont want to be friends with them.
Posted by Anonymous | January 3, 2009 1:44 AM
high hat drum beats....LOL :)
as long as you usually don't want to be friends with me, that's usually great with me!
Posted by Lori | January 3, 2009 2:09 AM
oh lori, you know what hes referring to. the omnipresent regurgitated disco beat in every shit hipster band. so suck on simian's teet why dont you, if thats even a real person. its probably a computer, wearing ray bans and a v-neck.
Posted by Anonymous | January 3, 2009 3:23 AM
This band is better than hipster shit. I thought it was shit upon first listen too but after a second listen I was hooked. It's very sad and desperate music that does not rely on any beat. Listen to the acoustic covers of Crimewave.

LLLAAAAAAAMMMMEEEEEEE!!!!!
And people wonder why nobody in the UK, let alone the rest of the world, takes any musicians from the US or Canada serious. LOL

Thats funny considering all the hipster garb that comes out of the UK and Europe.
Klaxons anyone? Simian Mobile Disco? JUSTICE? yeah, i thought so..
Posted by Dumbass | January 4, 2009 10:53 PM
The first Bloc Party album is the only thing of note that has come out of the UK in ages.
Posted by Anonymous | January 4, 2009 11:13 PM
yea man radiohead aren't notable or anything
idiot
Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2009 7:32 AM
Radiohead, that's one. Granted, they've been a band for over 15 years but whatever. How about some more?
I feel that the UK has been lagging behind for quite some time. The nation seemed to lose its way following the likes of Public Image Ltd and Gang of Four.
Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2009 2:03 PM
good things to have come out of england in the past 20 years: the libertines, the stone roses, oasis, primal scream, radiohead, arctic monkeys, late of the pier
and the strokes might not be famous if it wasn't for the UK, they got famous over there before getting big back in the states (despite playing merc lounge for like four years straight).
Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2009 2:14 PM
thats some sexy leggings pantyhose or whatever she has on. she's so cute and adorable.
Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2009 2:25 PM
All right. The Libertines were great and all, as were the Stone Roses. I like the Arctic Monkeys too. I don't listen to Primal Scream or Late of the Pier, so I'm not inclined to comment.
But don't you see? While these bands have indeed written good songs, many are just rehashing the same ideas over and over again.
Maybe this isn't the venue to argue about it, but the following comment was absurd.
"And people wonder why nobody in the UK, let alone the rest of the world, takes any musicians from the US or Canada serious. LOL"
North America has been consistently producing the most innovative music worldwide for at least the past decade.

I think every band on the Guardian's top 10 this year is American, except Portishead...freekin Limey's...
