Doug Gillard kicks off his previously-announced, month-long residency at Pianos in NYC tonight (1/7). Here's who else is on the bills:

Jan 7 - Regal Standard (Jason Narducy & Larry Schroeder acoustic) & Graham Smith (Kleenex Girl Wonder)
Jan 14 - Gramercy Arms & Abigail Warchild
Jan 21 - Unsacred Hearts & Arrows (Russ Fink)
Jan 28 - Mascott (Kendall Meade) & The Octagon
This is not the first time recently that Gramercy Arms & Mascott shared a post.

Graham Smith's band Gates of Heaven are playing Cake Shop on January 9th, Glasslands on January 27th, and Monkeytown on April 28th with Bowerbirds.

Doug Gillard's only other upcoming show is February 8th when he and band open for The Black Keys at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ.

Can't wait to see Doug Gillard! I am going to try and hold off on going until the 28th show because Mascott is awesome! Or maybe I'll just do my own residency of going to Doug Gillard's residency...

Graham Smith!

Little known fact about Graham. His brother is the original sports blogger, the guy who started The Cub Reporter about 10 years ago!

The first time I ever saw Guided By Voices, it was the Bob backed by Cobra Verde lineup. I remember thinking "Pollard should dump those clowns, except for Doug Gillard." And that's what he did. I was pleased.

I saw Doug shopping on the UWS last summer at the same time 'I Am A Tree' was playing on my iPod. True story. I almost showed him, but probably a bit too creepy.
