Elvis Perkins

Before he announced New Years Eve show at Terminal 5 with Islands and Blonde Redhead, it seemed like a while since we'd heard anything new from Elvis Perkins. And now there's more...

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are very pleased to announce the completion of our album and we'd like to play for you here a couple songs for the holidays. One is from the beginning and the other two are from the middle and the end. You will see it all fleshed out come Spring when the thing is released. As always, keep your eyes open, your ears out, and we'll be seeing you in the New Year.

-Elvis, Brigham, Nick and Wyndham

The new songs they're referring to (three actually) are streaming at their website, AND tickets go on Am Ex presale today at noon (and regular sale Friday) for an Elvis Perkins in Dearland headlining show at Bowery Ballroom in NYC on March 25th. That performance comes after a few West Coast dates and SXSW. All dates below...

Yes. It really should be 'WHOM?'

Nice attempt at obscure quarterback reference but there is no "E" in Grbac.

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2009 11:07 AM

Wait...so Elvis Perkins is actually Elvis Grbac? That is awesome.

He is son of Anthony Perkins, actor who played Norman Bates in film Psycho who later died of aids. His mother also died in 9/11 plane that hit tower.

Now don't you feel good about yourselves?

Elvis Perkins is also the best Elvis in history. Fuck everyone else named Elvis.

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2009 11:44 AM

Wait, is that true about his dad and mom? That is the saddest thing I ever heard HOWEVER I saw him at Siren and I was less than impressed with his music. Maybe he has one hell of a personality.

Posted by Dooder City | January 14, 2009 11:49 AM

The story on his parents' deaths are true. Very sad indeed.

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2009 11:53 AM

I thought he was one of the best on the day at that Siren Fest, I think that was two years ago? Didnt know his mom was killed in 9/11, that sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2009 11:54 AM

the story about his parents is absolutely correct. "ash wednesday" is chronological - the first half of the album was written before his mother's death (she was in one of the 9/11 planes) and the second half written afterwards.
