Fleet Foxes

Jorma C. Taccone (born March 19, 1977) is an American comedy writer/actor. In Fall 2005 he joined the writing staff for sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. He is also an Emmy-winning songwriter and member of The Lonely Island, a sketch comedy group that includes SNL repertory player Andy Samberg and SNL writer Akiva Schaffer. Taccone created the beat for and assisted in writing the SNL Digital Short Lazy Sunday. He also was one of the principal actors in Jizz in My Pants, along with Andy Samberg. [Wikipedia]
Fleet Foxes were the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night. Videos below...

Jorm Dances To Fleet Foxes

Backstage at SNL, Taccone is known to dance obtrusively and shirtless to the musical guests of the show due to his strange taste in various music genres. Five videos of this are shown on YouTube, all in front of the members of the band and a disapproving Bill Hader. The videos show Arcade Fire, Death Cab for Cutie, Arctic Monkeys, My Chemical Romance and Fleet Foxes.

He made a cameo appearance in Role Models as "Mitch from Graphics" where he sings a karaoke version of Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane."

He makes an appearance in the video for the Gnarls Barkley song "Who's Gonna Save My Soul."

Jorma married Marielle Heller in June 2007 at Mission Ranch, Carmel.

this is not really that funny...it's just a viral video for douchebag's who can comment on blogs that "jorma is awesome"

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 2:25 AM

they make the songs way more exciting live

Posted by preston | January 19, 2009 2:57 AM

SNL is the worst. Why is it so difficult to put out funny material when you have some of the best comedy writers out there.

I guess performers really do matter.

Posted by preston is the shittiest name ever | January 19, 2009 9:25 AM

yeah, but you have to admit "Jizz in my pants" is a cool band name

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 9:35 AM

That saxophone made it all.

^^^ THIS
haha

so true.

even the backstage "secret" videos at SNL are insanely staged and annoying

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 10:24 AM

aside from the Fleet Foxes performances, this was about the worst episode of SNL I've ever seen. Not one mildly funny sketch. They need to stop giving Kristen Wigg free-reign. That "Gilly" sketch is just plain awful.

Posted by wembley | January 19, 2009 10:58 AM

yea i tried watching but had to just have it on in the background on mute while i was waiting for fleet foxes. watched dave chapelle standup on my laptop instead. much funnier than snl. i don't understand how SNL is so unfunny.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 11:02 AM

dirty dancing

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 11:09 AM

Hi Jorma,
instead of dreaming up lame shit like this....how about devoting your "talents" to creating an actual funny skit? The show this week was BRUTAL. Michael O'Donoghue was a comedy writer...you are a FUCKING HACK.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 11:55 AM

Yeah I goot a say this week's show was one of the all time worst.

We're talking Anthony Michael Hall era bad. No... worse than that actually.

Nothing was funny - with the slight excpetion of the Gitmo going out of business commercial.

SNL - get funny or die.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 12:06 PM

Kristen Wiig can have free rein in my pants.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 12:15 PM

Hell...SNL lost me at the terrible Dick Cheney opening "interview" and awful PBS "urban" learning show skits...I didn't make it anywhere near Fleet Foxes. This week was an embarrassment to the history of the franchise. Boy I bet they wish they could have kept that Tina Fey/Sarah Palin thing going on forever.

Posted by blackhat | January 19, 2009 12:16 PM

it can't die. that time slot is theirs' forever. They are competing against infomercials. Why do you think Showtime at the Apollo lasted so long?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 12:18 PM

I saw the title and thought "I didn't notice Jorma Kaukonen sitiing in with FF, wtf?" So at least I'm not losing my mind, but who cares about this shirtless fool.

I really try to give SNL the benefit of the doubt, but yes that was a truly truly terrible episode. Just poor. They hire a bunch of new female cast members and then give them virtually no screen time. Every week is the "Kristen Wiig geeky female characters show". Wiig is very funny but quickly wearing out her welcome doing all these similar characters every week. Samberg hasn't been funny for a year and a half. Keenan is the saving grace of the show at this point. Steve Martin is hosting next, wonder is even he can salvage something from this floundering cast.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 12:37 PM

Last week's SNL...

Hands down the worst show in the franchise's history. Name one the was worse for the entire show? You can't.

Jorma needs to be fired with 90% of the other "talent" they have on that show.

1. Dick Cheney was very painfully, crickets chirping, and this is what they opened with?

2. Urban Kids show was equally bad, hell even Cameron Diaz did a better kids show sketch, many years ago. This was soooo dumb and once again outed Keenan as having zero comedy talent.

3. Fleet Foxes were the only thing good about the 90 minutes.

4. The View sketch was horrifying the newcomer in the cast can't do Barbara Walters for shit. Why were they pulling out a Ricky Gervais impression?

5. Seth's news was bland as it has been since Amy P left.

6. The Penelope sketch was never funny to me, now it's just on there to see how fast Wiig can talk gibberish, again, why is this funny?

7. Aladdin sketch - really?

8. Policia Mexicana - by far the worst concept for a sketch in a long while, so it's lame before it even starts, toss in a natural language barrier, silly writing, and you have a real winner on your hands SNL.

9. The Digital Short was really bad as well, even the butt shot didn't save it. I hate it when Will sings now - he does the same thing over and over.

10. Gilly skit is stupid as shit.

Ok I'm done - I could go on and on....

I thought last week was pretty good for the first hour, but they must have used up all their decent ideas from the weeks off because this truly was uninspired.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 12:45 PM

The first hour was just as bad as the last half...

That show was the worst shit I've seen them do.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 12:48 PM

here is the reality of it all--they are now trying to appeal to a 14-22 yr old audience that follows blog hype, and youtube clips so it will all go viral and get more hits for nbc.com and generate more ad revenue. But it is all cutesy shit. Not intelligent comedy by a mile. They hire writers who are not experienced-- and lame shit like this is the outcome.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 12:48 PM

that first song was great

Posted by ryan | January 19, 2009 12:52 PM

Every time I see Mr. Show, or The State, or Kids in the Hall, or Whitest Kids, I wonder how the hell SNL (and MadTv) are still on the air. SNL is just awful. I don't think any of the writers know what a punchline is. They come up with an idea for a sketch, and they start it, and have no idea how to end it. Half the sketches on SNL seem to just end with everyone spontaneously dancing as they cut to commercial. It is terrible. The worst Mr. Show episode is better than the best SNL episodes of the last decade.

Posted by Kurt C. | January 19, 2009 12:56 PM

Fleet Foxes = good

SNL = Worst shit on TV

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 12:56 PM

Never thought I'd long for the days of Jimmy Fallon

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 1:02 PM

SNL is utter shit

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 2:39 PM

Ahh yes, the most negative corner of the internet.

Nicely done everyone.

Are you finished?

Ok good, now get a job.

Posted by Johnny Blue Jeans | January 19, 2009 2:40 PM

SNL has always sucked. It's pablum for middle-aged people who don't go out anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 2:49 PM

Why don't you get out and do something on Saturday night? Losers.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 2:58 PM

how funny/uncomfortable did robin look at the end of the show? pretty funny yet endearing.

Posted by themasses | January 19, 2009 3:02 PM

NL has always sucked. It's pablum for middle-aged people who don't go out anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 2:49 PM

BUT

It didn't used to be like that - that's why people are complaining.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 4:39 PM

dear anon 2:40...

when something is this bad, I really don't have a problem with people being in "the most negative corner of the internet".

So show something positive that wasn't the Fleet Foxes about last week's SNL show then we will talk, until then don't be the dickhead.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 4:51 PM

yeah pretty hard to defend this current SNL crap-a-thon.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 4:52 PM

4:39 --

No. It really, truly has ALWAYS sucked. Everyone just likes to pretend when they saw it for the first time in 8th grade that it was the best ever.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 5:07 PM

One of their writers is a 24 kid who went to dalton, harvard, who's father is a journalist for the NYTimes and he wrote a book. i mean he can relate to the people who watch it...right? kristen wiig is maaad cute. just like caroline kennedy's daughter tatianna schlossberg.

Posted by i cum a lot...LADIES? | January 19, 2009 5:15 PM

Actually, Kurt C., MadTV is off the air. It was recently cancelled...thank goodness.

Posted by Britt | January 19, 2009 5:31 PM

I disagree anon 5:07

SNL has had great seasons and great casts in the past.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 5:40 PM

That 24 year old is name Simon Rich. I heard that his book is funny. But, don't knock on the Ivy Leagues. They have written for The Simpsons, The Office, and a bunch of others.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 5:57 PM

Uh huh right, SNL has always sucked. Belushi and Aykroyd were never funny. Neither were Gilda, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Martin Short, Jon Lovitz, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, Tracy Morgan, Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler or Tina Fey. They all suck! Get a fucking grip, you moron.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 7:14 PM

Yeah this episode was just an embarrassment.

Posted by anon | January 19, 2009 7:27 PM

Everything that was mentioned about this show appealing to 14 year olds is correct. Case in point Feb. 14th musical guest....Jonas Brothers

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2009 11:41 PM

It was a sad day in the SNL history.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2009 12:06 AM

I thought POLICIA MEXICANA was actually funny. As was Armisen's Bernie Madoff and Latin stereotype dude in the opening monologue.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2009 10:15 AM

Death to Boring Bands! Death to crappy TV!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2009 3:54 PM

KABLAMO!

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2009 4:02 PM

Andy Samberg=hipster Jimmy Fallon

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2009 5:22 PM

Actually, SNL has improved immensly since Jorma, Akiva, and Andy have been brought in. His dances are not on SNL, so telling him to use his talents on something better (because you definately HAVE to watch a video clip from youtube) is ridiculous.
Agree'd this week episode might not have been the best out of the pack this year, but its hard to expect a live sketch comedy show to be perfect, if you want that, go watch Seinfeld reruns or something.
