Jeff Tweedy solo @ Lollapalooza 2008 (more by Bao Nguyen)
Jeff Tweedy

As previously mentioned, Jeff Tweedy is playing a few dates at the end of January, two of which are with Great Lake Swimmers who also have a ton of other shows without Jeff scheduled. Now there are three more Jeff shows at the end of March, and those include one at Beacon High Auditorium in Beacon, NY (not to be confused with the Beacon Theatre in NY, NY).

Singer songwriter Jeff Tweedy from the band Wilco will perform March 28 in Beacon at Clearwater's "Spring Splash" fundraising concert.

The performance will take place at Beacon High School and benefit the Poughkeepsie-based environmental organization founded decades ago by Fishkill folk singer Pete Seeger.

Tickets cost $45-75 and go on through a pre-sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 4 through www.wilcoworld.net. The tickets go on sale officially at 10 a.m. Feb. 7. Tickets costing $150 will also be available. These include a pre-concert reception, premium seating in the first five rows and a one-year Clearwater membership. [Poughkeepsie Journal]

I love me some Tweed... but that's more than Wilco charges. Plus gas money to get up to Bumble-fuck Beacon. To see him perform in a high school auditorium? Ummm... going to have to pass on this one.

i saw him solo at irving in 2002 i think...

i gave up on this band a year or two after that.

Worth it in my book! See you at Beacon!

i saw him solo down in charlottesville in 2007, last date of his tour. he played 27 songs and told the funniest stories. it's worth it.

the bootlegs of his solo tours are usually fantastic. the quality is always great as there isn't that much of a range, and he plays a ton of rare songs that you really could never hear anywhere else.

People are complaining about ticket prices for a fundraiser? Sure, skip the show so that you pocket the difference and blow it on takeout food and cans of PBR. Good for you.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:39 AM

I think it is reasonable! His fundraiser in Chicago is $100 and $150...

saw tweedy for free in 2005 at tribeca performing arts center... great show...

Beacon is an awesome town, and this is at my old high school. So if you fuckers don't like it, stay at home. I'll be more than happy to enjoy it with everyone else who doesn't bitch.

i live in beacon. i dont know why jeff tweedy is comming to beacon....i think its a dream come true and its amazing hes comming to my small town. and to the school i went to. i just have no idea why beacon high was the choice of all places.

Tweedy's benefit is for Clearwater, the environmental organization founded by Pete Seeger in the sixties that cleaned up the Hudson River and is now involved with educating kids and getting them to be "green thinkers." I've been to other Clearwater shows at Beacon High School, and they have all been super.

How big is the auditorium 6:15?

Posted by Anonymous | January 30, 2009 1:11 PM

1) beacon is only an 80 min train ride from gct. may be bumble land, but its not really that out of the way
2) if you don't think a show in small venue by a well know artist is f-ing awesome, keep visiting msg and leave the better tix free for the rest of us
3) the higher price is not for anyone to pocket - its a fund raiser to benefit the environment in NYC region.

Beacon show is fund raiser for a good cause, so pay up or shut up you cheap, whiny fucks.

i grew up out there. nice place. go early and check out the Dia.

Went to the show in Beacon last night (drove from Long Island)......it was well worth the trip. Great solo performance in a small, intimate venue, and for a good cause.
Anyone who would pass on this show cannot be a fan of Tweedys.

This was a fun show except for the heckler who sounded like he came from Jersy.....what a ....fill in the blank..... The kids that played with Pete Seeger were great too......also the unmiked songs for earth hour

Pete Seeger is an old, communist prick.
No different now than 30 years ago. When will you dreaming assholes learn??
