Los Campesinos!
Los Campesinos!

Best mention of a ringtone in a lyric: "It's Never That Easy Though, Is It? (Song for the Other Kurt)" from Los Campesinos!

The Replacements' "Answering Machine" is in need of an update. There's no denying that the Mats' mix of bitterness and loneliness is still powerful, but the choice of technology is a bit dated. Los Campesinos! try to modernize things. And while lacking the acidic tone of the Replacements, this caffeine-loaded U.K. act makes up for it with bratty anger, stomping into the chorus with this refrain: "I'm calling you again on your telephone, and all I ever get is another stupid ringtone."

As pointed out before, Los Campesinos! and Titus Andronicus will hit the road together this month. Starting January 15th in Baltimore, the two bands will end up in NYC for two final shows together at Bowery Ballroom on February 14th and 15th (tix). One night before the tour begins (1/14), Titus also have a local show scheduled at Maxwell's with Vivian Girls (tix). Now so do Los Campesinos!, and it's free and at SoundFix in Brooklyn (1/14, 8-9pm, first come, first servied). All other dates below...

Does anyone know if this will be an album signing event too? Or just a performance?

i've asked this before, but what up with swarthmore college getting all of these bands? ra ra riot, campesinos, passion pit, bishop allen...the school's tiny, and they're all nerds.

Posted by Anonymous | January 8, 2009 10:54 PM

swarthmore college has a big budget for bands on campus. bands can make better money doing swarthmore over The Kyhber or Johnny Brendas.

none of those bands cost more than 1000 dollars to book. probably in the 500-800 range? a lot of schools can do it, it's just whether the students in charge of the money want to.

album signing event? like panic at the disco or something?
