mates live are ok. i saw them on their last tour (w/ "brother reade" opening) and i was let down with the performance mates gave.
what i was very pleasantly surprised about was who "brother reade" turned out to be-- a rap duo with a lot of energy and even more talent. after that show, i told everyone how great they were (brother reade) and eventually picked up their lastest album... anyone see them?
how are black kids live? partie traumatic was a pretty fun album-- do they give a good show or does their sound go to shit live?

i have such horrible, disgusting gas right now, i have to share this with all of you.
this is just inhuman.
unbelievable. like this steaming, hiroshima rotten egg salad of an ass stench. ughhh.
i mean i can appreciate this stench i am creating, but, oh man... you would all hate me and be coughing right now.
each time i pass gas (since i am sitting at work) i create a bubble of hot air (which seeps out of my ass) and slowly goes under my desk and hides there until i roll my chair out from under it, at which point i present a world of hidden stink, which is beyond foul... i am a flatulent disaster.

Mates of State put Black Kids to shame last night, it was so unfortunate that the Black Kids had to come on afterwards, completely underwhelmed me, fantastic job by kori and jason, but, the Black Kids? please.

Does that mean that the Black Kids are playing before Mates of State tonight at Webster? Damn. I don't really feel like sitting through that to see Kori and Jason.

MOS and Black Kids exchanged being headliners.
I attended the Music Hall gig and MOS opened for Black Kids. (SUNBEARS went on before MOS - total of 3 bands).
I'm a fan of MOS so I was happy to see 'em first. I was too tired to see Black Kids. Next time...
I don't like the acoustics of Webster Hall. For me, Webster Hall will always be a danceteria. A club for dancing. PERIOD.
Peace.

The Mates of State played a great set at Webster. Unfortunately didn't play a thing from their first two records, but still had plenty of strong material to compensate. Started off with My Only Offer and then ripped through (not in order) Get Better, Like U Crazy, Think Long, Fraud in the 80s, Fluke, Ha Ha, You Are Free, Now, Parachutes (Funeral Song), Open Book, So Many Ways, and finished the first set with All Day. The encore was a cover that I'm not familiar with and then a great version of The Re-Arranger.
The Black Kids played their hearts out, but I don't think their songs are strong enough yet. A lot of energy, but not enough hooks, and the guitar solos are painful.
