Elvis Perkins

Elvis Perkins (born February 9, 1976) is a folk-rock singer-songwriter. He is the son of actor Anthony Perkins (an Academy-award nominated screen actor best known for his role as Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho), and a well known Elvis Presley aficionado, and photographer Berry Berenson, whose work appeared regularly in Life magazine. He was raised in Los Angeles, California and New York City. Perkins is a great-grandson of the fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli and a nephew of the actress Marisa Berenson. His paternal grandfather Osgood Perkins, was also an actor. Perkins attended Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island. [Wikipedia]
As just mentioned, tickets went on sale today for the upcoming Elvis Perkins show at Bowery Ballroom. As also mentioned, that show is one of a few tour dates he and his band will be playing in March when their new album comes out. XL Recordings (the label) has since announced the exact date (March 10) and the album name "Elvis Perkins in Dearland" (which makes it self-titled). You can still stream three of the news songs, and you can now also download one of them above.

Please correct me if I'm wrong:
Elvis Perkins = Berry Berenson?

Ivy league. Hollywood connections. Wealthy.

Wow. This guy had a real tough time making it.

You jackass, go read what happened to his parents and then talk about "tough".

The reality is that the guy is really talented, an excellent singer and songwriter, and a fine performer.

1:27: Perkins' publicist.

No one would pay any attention to this if it weren't for dad's name.

I must say that "Shampoo" has always been my least favorite song of theirs. Hoping the album is as good as their other material they've been playing around with for a while.

1:03,2:35, are sad sad souls...

as far as "tough", perkins and his band spent 2 years on the road working as hard as any band out there

Uh, hello, his father died of AIDS when he was still a teenager and his mom was on one of the 9/11 planes. If you think that being somewhat wealthy and going to a good school inurs you to the fear and pain brought about by that kind of trauma, think again.
