Peta

PETA writes, "Apparently, NBC has something against girls who love their veggies. After we submitted our proposed Super Bowl ad, which features a comely crop of models demonstrating their fondness for fresh produce, NBC nixed the ad, saying it "depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards." No joke, this is straight from NBC--so stop fondling your fruit salad right now and read the list of shots NBC requested we cut before they'd reconsider: licking pumpkin, touching her breast with her hand while eating broccoli, pumpkin from behind between legs, rubbing pelvic region with pumpkin, screwing herself with broccoli (fuzzy), asparagus on her lap appearing as if it is ready to be inserted into vagina, licking eggplant, and rubbing asparagus on breast... Wow, that list even made us blush! You can read the full NSFW letter from NBC here."

A gimmick they pull every year? Probably. Regardless, 'banned' video below...

Watching the ad made me crave for some steak. I'm having a juicy filet mignon for dinner tomorrow. Thank you PETA!

smack one of those bitches in the face with my juicy fillet mignon

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 2:49 AM

MEH.

Posted by quilty | January 28, 2009 2:57 AM

THAT got banned? Seriously? It's like a luke-warm beer and/or Victoria's Secret commercial at best. Budweiser brings a lot more heat with their ads. LAME.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 3:02 AM

Totally understandable why they don't want that on tv. Not very creative anyways.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 4:10 AM

Too vulgar, but this is only what young one wants so to but on TV will do but controlling to XXX channels only.

This video makes me want to fuck meat and eat a vegetarian chick.

vegetarian 'chicks' have no interest in your, er, vienna sausage loser.

you smell like death.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 8:03 AM

Death.. oh, delicious death.

I prefer mine New Orelans style with a sauce Bernaise and brabant potatoes.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 8:34 AM

Anon 8:03 – How about you help me get over myself by getting under myself. Several vegetarian chicks have had interests in my Hebrew National.

I smell like a well balanced healthy diet.

Posted by JT | January 28, 2009 8:43 AM

At first I was gonna criticize this but then I realized I visit a site called "Brooklyn Vegan" everyday like a loser.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 8:51 AM

fucking peta. the sea kittens campaign was bizarre, but this is just insulting. I'm a vegetarian and I hate peta more than anyone.

Posted by petapita | January 28, 2009 8:59 AM

Jeez...no wonder the ad didn't work! Victoria's Secret commercial is much sexier!

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:11 AM

On the right side of this page, as I type this comment, there is a 160x600 ad for Pizza Hut P'Zone.

Posted by Kurt | January 28, 2009 9:22 AM

there's a lot of misogyny in the brooklyn vegan comments huh? This a result of age or inbreeding?

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:32 AM

Their heart is in the right place, but sadly that's one horrible commercial.

Posted by Rajah of Rehab | January 28, 2009 9:32 AM

No matter how much anyone tries to use half-naked women as a marketing ploy to encourage people to consume more vegetables, steak and other popular animal flesh will always be delicious, nutritious, and more popular. Sorry, folks!

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:44 AM

wow it seems like the get a super bowl ad banned every year does anyone rember the pizza one that was lame as hell too

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:45 AM

maybe if peta used a farting horse...

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:54 AM

I've got a carrot in my pants

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 10:05 AM

A baby carrot that is.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 10:07 AM

So not sure what everyone's problem is...they have commercials like this with women and beer, women and shaving gel, etc. Frankly, PETA is using sex which is used alot in commercials that are played during football games, but sending out a message that being a vegetarian is good. Seriously if they ran this commercial, many guys would be wishing they were those vegetables. It is disappointing that there will be other sexually charged commercials and this cannot be one of them. Great example of reaching out to the audience that PETA is targeting.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 10:20 AM

Yeah, I call fake on that letter. Also, lol @ the fact that PETA is trying to vaguely insinuate that NBC "banned" the ad because it promotes vegetarianism or something ridiculous like that. Go PETA!

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 10:25 AM

peta doesn't deserve a commercial during the super bowl is what this boils down to.

why the fuck should i have to break away from buffalo wings to watch that. don't force your fresh-from-the-earth lifestyle on me.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 10:28 AM

id like to stick my vegetable in her FUPA

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 10:28 AM

PETA are a bunch of 'tards.

They hurt more than they help.

Posted by Sacred Absolute Hipster Cow | January 28, 2009 10:45 AM

Attn meat eaters: See how yr health is in 10 years. Laugh now...

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 10:49 AM

we are equiped with a set of canine teeth for a reason: breaking up meat.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 11:13 AM

I doubt any of the women in the commercial are even vegetarians.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 11:28 AM

At least this isn't as bad as their ads comparing animal death to the lynching of black people in the south and holocaust victims or the time they tried to buy space on the fence between the mexico/us border and put ads telling latino folks that they're leaving behind a better diet in their countries for one that will make them obese murderers: http://postpomonuyorican.blogspot.com/2008/08/peta-and-oppression-on-border.html

Posted by Emma | January 28, 2009 12:09 PM

they didn't want to show it because that commercial wasn't sexy enough.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 12:15 PM

Yes we have canine teeth, but they are much smaller, relatively, that most carnivores. We also have far larger, and more numerous molars (used for grinding vegetable matter) than other carnivores.I hate PETA too, but at least get your science correct.

Posted by Steve | January 28, 2009 1:04 PM

I give those ladies a mushroom slap

Posted by Willis | January 28, 2009 1:15 PM

adam, we are omnivores. Hence the molars for vegetation AND canines for flesh which, yes, are smaller than other species' only because we do not rely solely on meat for sustenance.

Posted by Sherm | January 28, 2009 1:17 PM

Lame attempt to catch attention. Especially from drunk assholes watching a bunch of retards hitting each other on the field. They deserve each other.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:20 PM

You people are doing a great job of making yourselves look like a bunch of fucktards! Animal consumption is not only horrible for you, but it's bad for the environment and a whole slew of other factors. Get informed, oh wait we dont do that here in the states, we just critisize things that are different from our daily monotony. Ridiculous! Makes me just shake my head.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:21 PM

There is no way any of those chicks in the commercial are vegetarians. they have nice curves and are actually pretty.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:23 PM

This explains anon 1:21 perfectly:

Being Vegetarian Shrinks Brain

Becoming a vegetarian could be good for the planet, but it’s bad for your brain. Scientists at Oxford University in England have found that vegetarians are six times more likely to have brain shrinkage than those who include meats in their diets.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:28 PM

People who eat meat are fucking losers.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:41 PM

I've always thought it was stupid how they are so sensitive about animals but always use naked women to sell their ideas. They have no problem treating women like meat/animals.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:43 PM

peta is better of having the spot banned.
i would not have watched it if it was not.

Posted by mike flood | January 28, 2009 1:47 PM

Brain shrinkage!

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:48 PM

Fortunately vegan brains are so big they can afford to lose a tad bit, which by the way, they say doesnt take place for years and years, well after all the meat eaters have died from heart disease!

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:51 PM

Mmmm, porterhouse.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:52 PM

so peta has more respect for animals than they do for women, huh?

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:53 PM

Peta kills a ton of animals. Look it up. It is kind of insane. If you want to help out animals look into no kill shelters.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 1:53 PM

Now they'll just have to air the commercial where they compare the meat industry to the Holocaust.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 2:12 PM

Also where did they do these studies? Do they mean vegetarians have better sex with vegetables?

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 2:14 PM

my canines are bigger than your canines

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 2:31 PM

1:21 get the fuck over yourself. Animal consumption is horrible for you my asshole. If it's horrible for you, why do other animals fucking eat each other. Good fucking God if the fucking cow could eat you it would. No one cares, and you are not special. If you want to be a vegetarian because it's good for the environment or think it's good for you, have a fucking blast, but don't fucking push it on every other person and make yourself out to be some kind of fucking saint for doing so.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 2:45 PM

Fuckin' A, 2:45! Fuck!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 2:53 PM

not eating meat is a choice. eating meat is an instinct. I think Denis leary said that.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 2:55 PM

Sherm: Just because our bodies are ABLE to process meat, does not mean that it is the healthier alternatrive. Our herbivorous centered (for lack of a better term) are far more numerous. Thank you for not being argumentative.

As for the other poster's Denis Leary comment, are you sure that Bill Hicks didn't say it first? That would follow a pattern.

Posted by adam | January 28, 2009 3:09 PM

"On the right side of this page, as I type this comment, there is a 160x600 ad for Pizza Hut P'Zone."

1:21 you must not be too upset if all it makes you do is shake your head.

Oh, and just to let you know, I'm eating hamburgers tonight. Now don't get all crazy with that head shaking tonight. You don't want to hurt yourself

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 8:12 PM

What's with the NFL and NBC trying to keep the superbowl time a secret? I finally found out it was on NBC after several googles, then had to track down four levels to find a miniscule graphic showing the time. Guess the tickets don't sell out. It's enough to make a woman stuff a flat tire down any goon who doesn't like animals. Just put some pizza sauce on it and have someone with big chichis serve it, and they'll eat anything. Testastanoodles. Buuuurrrrruuuup-hic.

Posted by boogaloo | January 28, 2009 8:29 PM

regardless of this your opinion on PETA or vegetarianism, here's a reason you should think about eating LESS meat. And it's about human welfare, not animal welfare:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/27/weekinreview/27bittman.html

"Grain, meat and even energy are roped together in a way that could have dire results. More meat means a corresponding increase in demand for feed, especially corn and soy, which some experts say will contribute to higher prices.

This will be inconvenient for citizens of wealthier nations, but it could have tragic consequences for those of poorer ones, especially if higher prices for feed divert production away from food crops. The demand for ethanol is already pushing up prices, and explains, in part, the 40 percent rise last year in the food price index calculated by the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organization.

Though some 800 million people on the planet now suffer from hunger or malnutrition, the majority of corn and soy grown in the world feeds cattle, pigs and chickens. This despite the inherent inefficiencies: about two to five times more grain is required to produce the same amount of calories through livestock as through direct grain consumption, according to Rosamond Naylor, an associate professor of economics at Stanford University. It is as much as 10 times more in the case of grain-fed beef in the United States."

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:05 PM

Why are self-righteous vegetarians so much more annoying than other self-righteous minority groups?

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:20 PM

special interest groups are ruining this country.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2009 9:29 PM

regarding the ridiculous "vegetarian brain shrinkage" thing - iirc, that study was about the vitamin b12 ( which is plentiful in dairy products, but can be gotten elsewhere too ), and how _vegans_ might not get enough, thus causing various health issues...which is true, without b12 you can essentially shrivel up and die - but it still doesnt justify the sensationalist headline

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2009 1:49 PM
