The (Grateful) Dead tickets

Owsley Stanley (born Augustus Owsley Stanley III, January 19, 1935) also known as The Bear, was an underground LSD chemist, the first to produce large quantities of pure LSD.The Dead are playing some shows in April and May. That includes Nassau Coliseum and Madison Square Garden. Tickets go on sale at 10AM.His total production is estimated at around half a kilogram of LSD, or roughly 5 million 100-microgram "trips" of normal potency, although accounts vary widely. The widespread and low-cost (often given away free) availability of Stanley's high-quality LSD in the San Francisco area in the mid-1960s may have been crucial for the emergence of the hippie movement during the Summer of Love in the Haight-Ashbury area, which one historian of that movement, Charles Perry, has described as "one big LSD party." Stanley was also an accomplished sound engineer, and the longtime soundman for seminal psychedelic rock band the Grateful Dead; the band's well-known "dancing bear" icon derives from his nickname. MSG was sold out before it even went on sale. What a joke.

MSG was so out entirely to ticket brokers as there were only very few tix released on the pre-sale. What a joke. I'm sure we'll be able to get for under face the week of the show when all these guys realize they are stuck with tix.

Looks like they just opened up the seats behind the stage now, I pulled up a couple pair but didn't get them. I don't want to go that badly, better to wait and take advantage of people dumping tix later.

Ticketmaster is fucked up. What bullshit. I has to come over here and vent my anger. There is no way the show is sold out. All I'm getting is behind the stage too.

around 750 tickets are now on resale, just on one website (ticketsnow), so by extrapolating id say conservative estimate every 4th ticket was picked up by someone with intention of reselling it, at minimum 100% mark-up.
Here's hoping those people get stuck with these tickets, it could be a blood bath.

200% markup, sorry. those are $50 tickets going now for $150. Floor are going for over $1000, (some as high as $3000!) thats 1000% profit on a 100 dollar ticket. And this is not even taking into account people who are gonna get scammed like on the Animal Collective show.

better get your tickets now no matter what they cost. this could be the last tour ever.

HEW HEW HEW HA HA HA, I bought all the dead msg tickets. Now you pussy liberal hippies have to pay MY high prices!!!
Posted by Scalper | January 24, 2009 8:12 PM
Um... If you all paid attention to Dead.net - you could have purchased good tickets before they went on sale to the public. They kept a limit on the tix to keep away from scalpers. Also, there was a mail order before on sale date with the same restrictions.
