The Slits

Narnack is excited to announce the signing of "The Slits"... this pioneering all girl act is noted for it's influence on many of music's most acclaimed female musician's and was espousing on the riot girl ethic before most of the movements artists had even picked up an instrument.

The band is rehearsing new material now and will be returning to the studio for their first full-length album with all new material in over 20 years. Look for all the original members (Ari, Tessa & Palmolive) to be back in the studio for the new album which will start recording in February. The Slits will also be touring the US and abroad in 2009.

Also, Lee Scratch Perry's "REPENTANCE" has been nominated for Best Reggae Album of 2008. Oo-produced by Andrew WK and featuring Moby, seminal producer Don Fleming and drummer Brian Chippendale of staccato noise duo Lightning Bolt!. The Upsetter will be attending his first ever Grammy Awards ceremony here in Los Angeles on Feb. 8th. Be sure to tune in...

SURE he will.

they were god-awful when they opened up for Sonic Youth at McCarren last year.

Every time the Slits are posted about, someone says they suck. OK, WE GET IT! You don't like them live! Now have some respect!

respect for a few washed-up hags who were never very good to begin with?

They're trashier than (motley crue cover band) Girls Girls Girls. And with less talent.

I am wondering how they talked Palmolive into rejoining.
She is a born again Christian, living somewhere in the Northeast. Funny thing is, I saw a video where she was performing one of The Slits songs at some christian get together. Weird, but exciting that most of the band is back together. Love them.

Gonna be hard to top their classics like Cut but this is interesting news; I'll be looking for this.

Saw them a few years ago live ! it was a good show . They need to get some good producers on board , like Dennis Bovel or Adrian Sherwood , Mike D from the Beastie Boys would really work well . Then again anyone that can deal with Ari Up , she was totally rude to me and insulted me , she's a real nut job .

Aren't they forgetting someone?

Viv Albertine did play a show with the band earlier in the year, but blogged that she wasn't rejoining..

I asked Ari about the Palmolibe aspect of Narnack's story.

Her reply:
>is it really narnack spreading those lies????
>why would anyone start such shit???
>that's not good promotion
>false rumours only let down fans
>and leads to bitter reactions when their
>expectations are not met.............
>would you please blog everyone the truth
>which is we are doing the album this year
>and tell narnack to set the record straight
>if it really comes from them
>
>happy new year
>
