It appears as though the Vivian Girl drummer takes off her shoes to perform.

Feh.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 3:45 PM

Stop drinking hatorade for once.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 3:53 PM

while it's true they suck, they are able to get a better guitar sound with $200 guitars and no talenth than most of the shit you guys like.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 3:56 PM

this band's popularity is whats wrong with this country...haha

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 3:56 PM

what's talenth? their music is as good as your spelling.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:04 PM

This band also asked not to be covered on this site, but were apparently ignored.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:04 PM

dude, there's no Applebee's in Williamsburg. how am i supposed to get there on my bike in the rain?

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:06 PM

They're not great but at least they play rock.

Posted by Animal Collective Sucks | January 7, 2009 4:08 PM

Fuck - I got caught seeing this washed up NB band with King Khan/BBQ - Then again with Titus & M Ward.fuckshitfuck.

Posted by fuckshitfuck | January 7, 2009 4:10 PM

Say what you will, but Ugly Betty can play those skins!

Posted by Big Perm | January 7, 2009 4:12 PM

"Ugly Betty"

wow..that made me LOL

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:15 PM

Tell The World is a decent song. Saw them once at the Bowery and thought they were better than expected. You don't hear harmony like that much these days. It was definitely better than the Angela Mc - Glasvegas show last night.

Posted by Big Perm | January 7, 2009 4:21 PM

If anyone wants to come over tonight, I am taking off my shoes.

Others can watch it, watch the toes, the wiggling, etc. No touch, no smell, don' tbring the face close to anything of my body, just keep me company please

Posted by twigs/ f'in twings | January 7, 2009 4:21 PM

bands cant ask to un-covered by blogs especially when their rise to undeserved popularity was perpetuated by them. we own their band's shitty soul. stop bitching about people bitching about vivian gurlz. if they cant take it they should gracefully back away and hang up their low end equipment and get real jobs as a vintage clothing store help in wburg and dating around before they get old, flabby, and crushed by the passing of time.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:23 PM

"they are able to get a better guitar sound with $200 guitars"

What? The crappy sound is my main critism of them. I like the songs, love the vibe, but the poor recording quality and tinny guitars turns me off.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:25 PM

>If anyone wants to come over tonight, I am taking off my shoes.

Where do you live? Is 7:30 OK?

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:28 PM

did you know anonymous commenters can be sued for defamation of character? it was on google yesterday.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:41 PM

But did you know a defense to defamantion is truth? LOL!

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:43 PM

Can Katie, kick the kick-ball, shoe-less? I wonder.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:45 PM

lol - being called ugly is not something that you can sue over.

go fuck off trying to scare anonymous internet commentors and get a life. it's a fact that's here to stay.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:49 PM

Yeah but what if some bloke calls yo mom a slag? Better say it my face...i'll mash you up!

Posted by Ali G | January 7, 2009 4:51 PM

VivianGirls are awesome. They put out and rock out. Now put a sock in it, you jealous little ninnies.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 4:54 PM

To clarify, I called her "Ugly Betty" as in the tv charcter. Not merely ugly (Big Perm is nice to the ladies in that respect, unless they've got it coming).

Nobody, including judge or jury, can deny that that is a reasonable comparison

....and I actually like Vivian Girls music!

Posted by Big Perm | January 7, 2009 4:58 PM

No doubt big perm keep it real son. Truth be told I'd probably hit that chick who plays ugly betty. I like my music loud and my woman thick.

4:28 -- I live near espn zone

do you want to meet me within the espn zone?

we can go inside there and stay warm

sometimes they remove me from the premises

i accept this because i clearly look like i pose a danger to myself and others

Posted by twigs/ ftwigs | January 7, 2009 5:10 PM

Big Perm, surely we should form some sort of "big" alliance. I also shudder at the sight of twiggy girls.

Posted by bigjim | January 7, 2009 5:29 PM

I was at the Court Tavern show. It the best of the three times I've seen them. Not a fantastic band, but not a crappy one either. They are pretty decent with the right setting. They have good buzz and get on great shows, good for them.

Posted by Star Child | January 7, 2009 5:55 PM

Has a week gone by yet where they havent played a show? They're not awful or anything, but I find it hard to believe that they have a big enough following to support all these area shows.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 6:19 PM

weak

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 6:24 PM

4:23 you are completely wrong. ToddP made this band, while brooklynvegan did nothing but hold them up for contempt. That's why they asked not to be covered here, which was obviously not respected.

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 6:24 PM

> do you want to meet me within the espn zone?

Well, I'm here. Where are you? I'm currently watching a highlight film of the '77 Pro Bowl. Join me!

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 7:37 PM

M. Ward is spot on live always

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2009 7:43 PM

@6:24

I don't really think I've seen BK Vegan post about a band just to hold them up for contempt. It seems to me you only get on this site if the editors like your band. Them Editor(s)/Writer(s) can't really control what people say in the comments section.

Though I do think it would be a smart move not to post busty pictures of the cello player from Ra Ra Riot ever again here. That just brings the psychos out of the woodwork.

Oh, and there are lots and lots and lots and lots of Todd P bands. Only a few of them get written about consistently. Getting booked at silent barn on a rad bill is part of the equation no doubt, but probably less important for getting exposure than consistent coverage on a blog like this.

Dear world

I apologize, I failed to go to ESPN, I did not want the maxxi cheese flower, I found a better place that smelled like ham and had breasts and overtime

Posted by twigs/ftwigs | January 7, 2009 8:00 PM

where can I find such pictures of said cello player

Posted by Anonymous | January 8, 2009 8:18 AM

cello request seconded

Posted by Dog Horne | January 8, 2009 9:41 AM

Aww yeah! 3rd pic down is my personal favorite.

This band makes people happy - isn't that all that matters?

Posted by Anonymous | January 8, 2009 3:12 PM

Why are you complaining about the instruments that this band uses? A Fender Bronco bass can actually sound pretty good. Hell Sonic Youth use several short-scale Fender basses and guitars.

Get your mind right.

Posted by Colonel K | January 8, 2009 6:25 PM

would all of you just shut the fuck up already?

christ, find a better way to spend your time and expel your obvious abundance of negative energy

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2009 1:19 AM

you shut the fuck up.

vivs rule!

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2009 1:31 AM

I'm telling the haters to shut the fuck up, but you shut the fuck up too now for telling me to shut the fuck up.

SHUT THE FUCK UP

Posted by Anonymous | January 9, 2009 1:36 AM

I just wanted to say that I saw this band open for M. Ward last night and they were literally the worst band I have EVER seen. Ever. I am not writing this to bash them or be negative, but they are pretty much on the level of a mediocre high school band that can sing somewhat well. Does one of the members have a father who is someone important? That is the only reason I could think of for them to be sharing the stage with M. Ward.

I think I will skip all opening acts for the next bunch of shows I attend in fear that something like this will happen again.
