Delta Spirit

Delta Spirit played to a sold out crowd at Bowery Ballroom in NYC on Saturday night (2/21). Throughout the set they were joined on stage by friends and guests, members of opening bands Other Lives and Dawes included.

One day earlier, Daytrotter released a new live session...

"The San Diego-based group doesn't necessarily need the monetary support as it's been selling out venues left and right, touring with the splendid support acts of Dawes and Other Lives, but Delta Spirit could literally be considered America and it makes the kind of music that the country should want to support more and be prouder of than an automobile manufacturing company based in the Motor City. It's got the heart and soul of a Motown and a passionate passion for everything that it puts to tape, for everyone it reduces to blubbering, awestruck chills when it's seen live and in person. It, they (these five guys) deserve everything and more, simply for the way that they make a person rethink what they knew or understood about electricity." [Daytrotter]

this show was pure magic. couldn't agree more with the daytrotter essay. they're some of the most talented songwriters in music today.

This show made it clear that this band is going to get big. Fast. Best show I've seen at Bowery in a long time, maybe ever.

I cried. I was literally brought to tears. Best. Show. Ever.

I was pissed they canceled their albany show, LAME. Oh well.

Boston show was equally impressive. Dawes rules as well.

Can't believe I shelled out $$$ for that shit. The lead singer was an arrogant tool, the crowd was mostly frat boys, and it seemed like I didn't get the memo to take E before the show.

People were holding each other and happy-crying for crissakes...

And I kept thinking to myself, "Am I missing something?" They write solid pop hooks and they're definitely energetic showsmen, but they're not THAT good...

Definitely not good enough for me to put up my hands when the lead singer, thinking that he was a rock'n'roll god, stage dove (!) on top of a group of chicks.

P.S. That second band, Other Lives, I was literally BORED to tears.

Nice shots as usual from Tim Griffin. Love the one of the girl in the white hat losing it.

Thanks 6:41. :)

That girl tussled my hair as she came into the pit. I think it was good luck.

DS was a lot of fun. Glad I was there.

how many of the comments praising this band are the same person? I'm guessing more than a few.

Indeed, most likely the dude with the gelled hair, polo shirt and sweater tied around his neck who was standing in front of me. This band is insanely overrated.

Thank God, we have faggot pitchfork dick sucking pussies to rip on a great band. You're a waist of breath.

Listen...and if you don't get it...die mofo, or join that club that supports duches like you. Best show i've seen at Bowery in a long time. This band is superb. I get it.

I really doubt all these commenters are one diehard fan. This show was just unbelievably crazy good. Definitely the best Bowery show I've seen. This band can clearly command a bigger venue, too.

I borrowed your album from a friend of mine and I can't stop listening to it. When will you be touring through Wisconsin? If you've never been to Madison, I think it would be a place you guys could relate to.

Great sound!!!
