Mr. Brownstone
Eugene Mirman

You include actual examples from your own life growing up. How did you decide how much to divulge of your own background? "One of the things I liked about the book is that it's partially truth and partially a lie and it's not revealed except what you could believe reasonably to be true," he said. "I like the format of the book...I think that it's good to have real stories and things, and then also good to make lots of stuff up. It sounds like I will enjoy my book." [the comic's comic]
Eugene Mirman celebrated the release of his new book The Will To Whatevs with a sold out show at the Bell House in Brooklyn on Tuesday night (2/10). John Oliver didn't show up, but John Hodgman, Larry Murphy, Kristen Schaal, Paul F. Tompkins, Todd Barry, David Cross, and Guns N Roses cover band Mr. Brownstone did. In addition to their comedy sets, many of the comedians also joined the band on stage. More pictures from the night below...

this was such a bizarre event. i was so psyched that david cross was the special guest, til he came out w/ that dbaggy vibrator/rape joke that schaal f'ing killed it with that 'choreographed dance' to Toxic. she had me in tears.

the GNR band was lame as hell, but i didnt mind bc eugene seemed pretty stoked & it was his party after all.

The GnR band was fucking hilarious. There were some people there who didnt get it, which was weird cause it was a comedy show...

Favorite part of the night was david cross's "fool me once" hollywood bit.

Yeah, great event. Very very funny people.

I missed Sarah Vowell. Did she say anything, or was she just working her iPod before/during/after?...

The Gun n Roses band were by the far the best part of the night, which I don't know is a good thing or a bad thing. The comedy was pretty lame for the most part.

If there was some way to make love, physically, to a band, and not the members of the band but the actual BAND ITSELF, i would totally bang mr. brownstone. im just sayin.

Do Mr. Brownstone play anything off Chinese Democracy?

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2009 11:54 AM

Note to editor, when posting 50+ photos, even with Road Runner, it's a pain in the ass to read posts.

1. Was it just me or did David Cross look like the dormouse with Slash's hat on?
2. I see these guys all the time and this show was pretty lame.
3. The GNR band sucked! I love the fact that Eugene loved it and that his adorable brother got into it, but other than that... The drummer was so fucking cheesy. And the guitarist had a 'tramp stamp' that I couldn't stop staring at. Who does that?

Legendary person David Cross, I would buy the book with its autograph, it was a pity me there not

The song is pretty bad when it's all said and done, and that has NOTHING to do with how old they might be.
