Faith No MoreFaith No More

Faith No More has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat--its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile. Throughout our 17 years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe.

Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right.

Meanwhile we find ourselves at a moment in time with zero label obligations, still young and strong enough to deliver a kickass set, with enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present. And so with this we've decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff....
BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!

We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM.
Who know where this will end or what it will bring up...only the future knows. But we are about to find out!

FAITH NO MORE are:
Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Bill Gould, Jon Hudson and Mike Patton

We now have to hope they will end up in the United States because at the moment there's only been talk of a European tour.

No Jim Martin but that's ok! It's still crazy that this is even happening! I feel like hell has frozen over!

i wanna be high...so high

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2009 11:15 AM

Trey Spruance would be nice but I'm fine w Jon Hudson. That means we get King for a Day/Album of the Year material. If it was Jim Martin you know it would only be pre-Angel Dust......

WE CARE A LOT

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2009 11:48 AM

it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2009 12:07 PM

I said the Beatles thing and i was wrong. Apologies. Some members were totally unwilling to reunite until some time ago, that's what i knew (it's clear in the statement) and that's why i said it. No need to call me an asshole though, Ron.

Posted by me | February 26, 2009 12:25 PM

It's called "being funny". Nothing personal.

"Some members were totally unwilling to reunite until some time ago"

yeah... before the recession. Not to mention the poor sales of "Peeping Tom"

Posted by Ron | February 26, 2009 12:57 PM

Jim Martin was the shit. Not a full reunion til you get The Real Thing lineup.

Remember when Patton went off on Wolfmother for rehashing 70s music? Doesn't seem to bother him much now that he's getting a big paycheck to rehash his 80s music.
Don't get me wrong - I love Faith No More. I just think Patton can be pretty pretentious.

"I just think Patton can be pretty pretentious."

PRETTY PRETENTIOUS!?!?!?

Posted by Ron | February 26, 2009 3:21 PM

Stupid, pandering, faux-"wacky", fratboy bullshit.

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | February 26, 2009 5:17 PM

Corndog- do you not see the difference between reuniting and performing your OWN songs from back in the day compared to forming a contemporary band that rehashes other people songs from the 70's?

And crosseyed sniper- I don't understand, are you saying that faith no more was fratboy bullshit? If so, fuck, you are clueless. Just because your frat bros were into the song "epic" doesn't mean faith no more pander to frat boys. They were one of the most creative bands of their time.

spend an hour with King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime and tell me they were on to some crazy ass creative trip well after their alt rock heyday... That record is, at points, as out there as alot of other patton material, and as heavy as much of his other stuff. and dont even get me started on angel dust...

its a bit of a bummer that this is the album of the year line-up, but as long as they are playing more than just that i think everything is gonna be fine

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2009 7:56 PM

fuck yes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2009 9:36 PM

King for a Day is their best album for sho! I really enjoyed Album of the Year. Totally different Sound...

Posted by Ron | February 26, 2009 9:48 PM

I stopped paying attention after Angel Dust and moved on to Bungle. FNM after Jim Martin was "meh" imo.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 9:38 AM

No Jim Martin, no US tour dates is disappointing (not that I expected Jim to come back if/when this happened..). Better hope the European tour goes real well. STATION!

Posted by robotfrank | February 27, 2009 12:04 PM

Martin is known to be a farmer in California, of giant pumpkins, so maybe that was why he is not part of the gig. Either way, this is going to be HUGE and I personally can't wait to see these guys one more time. Many people are not so big on Album of the Year, but that release is totally solid.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 4:00 PM

I think more than one person thinks of Patton as the "Ultimate Scumbag". Just saying, he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way....

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 4:21 PM

Mike Patton is a genius0- he can do or say whatever he wants.
On the other end of the spectrum, Kanye West should shut the fuck up. He is no genius.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 4:30 PM

What about how Mike Patton takes shits in bars right out in the open, and laughs when people find his dookie? It's true, happened at Little Joy.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2009 4:32 PM

COME TO FLORIDA.....OR JUST THE USA....IM BEGGING SO, ILL MAKE MY WAY!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2009 6:43 PM

Faith No More, wasn't that the really shitty band who everyone used to throw bottles and other debris at when they opened for Metallica and GNR (two equally shitty bands) because they tried to rap and bring the "hip hop vibe" into rock music?

lol

Roddy B. states in a 94 article that "Evidence" had a Soul2Soul vibe, It always reminded me of that Maxi Preist tune "Close to you" am I right?
