Tapes n Tapes

Decider: Despite the band's success, you're still working as a data analyst. Do you find people are usually surprised by that?

Josh Grier of Tapes 'N Tapes: I guess it's kind of odd from an outside perspective. For most people, the whole point of being in a band is so you don't have to work a job, right? I'm in a band and I'm working a job. But to each his own. It's good to have something to do when we're not touring. It's a normal thing to do. I'm kind of a busybody. The job gives me something to do.

Tapes 'n Tapes, Wild Light, and The Subjects played Bowery Ballroom in NYC last night (2/25). Tonight they do it again at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. All tour dates HERE. More pictures, including one of the TnT setlist, below...

mosh pit was a bit unnecessary. idiots.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2009 12:39 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2009 12:45 PM

I think he made exactly the right decision not giving up his day job

good guys, bad band

12:39 - there were like a dozen bros right in front of the stage moshing most of the show. it was awful; i know b/c i kept having to push them off me. and yes, the crowd sucked. but the band wasn't all that good either, and I like their stuff pretty well.

they were so great last night!! their new record makes so much more sense live.

lame

Today, I went to a concert. The band went on after 2 opening acts. Man, I was so excited until I realized it was tapes 'n tapes. FML.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2009 2:01 PM

one of the strangest crowds i've seen at the bowery. lot more women than usual, both young and old, with some being extremly attactive...but also lots of drunken "bros" (i.e., tools) as well.. who were obnoxious to say the least...and rather ugly.

i missed the onening band. wild light was ok, with some decent songs, but overall nothing too amazing. t-n-t were crowd friendly, decent drumming, but noting too exciting either. seemed like they had a big cult following, though.

...left early.

Posted by Sammy | February 27, 2009 12:53 AM

anyone know where Josh works

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 1:39 AM

@Sammy: So the short drunk man was asking another guy (i.e., you) to dance?

Posted by not that there's anything wrong with that | February 27, 2009 9:36 AM

@Sammy: I saw that, he was all up on you. I felt bad for you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 10:29 AM

Not only was he short and drunk, he had a crazed drunked demon laugh that made me skin crawl...lil' gorgolye.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 11:03 AM

this crazy drunk guy sounds like the old creepy bald crazy drunk guy who was at the bell house for Ponytail last month...

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 11:07 AM

Was that for the last Subjects show with Low vs. Diamond @ the bellhouse?

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 12:15 PM

Ah the short drunk guy! What was up with that? Not gonna lie though, he got me dancin'.... Though when I stopped for a sec to fix my hair and he decided to invite me to a little tickle party I decided it was time to volley him to the other side of the crowd.

Maybe he was hired by Bowery to liven things up? If i'd expected to mosh at a Tapes and Tapes show I wouldn't have worn heels (or would I have?)
