Tokyo Police Club

"One of the highlights was the score of new tracks like "Breakneck Speed" and "Favorite Color". The most memorable moment was without a doubt the encore as the band stepped back onstage calling the Born Ruffians back out to play a new song, "Spark" which they recently wrote together. The track is really interesting with the merger of TPC's Dave Monks unique vocal sound pairing up with Born Ruffians singer Luke LaLonde. They closed it out in style inviting the Harlem Shakes out onto the already crowded stage for a classic rendition of the Clash's "Train In Vain"." [Chewy Donuts & Evil Bunnies]
Tokyo Police Club headlined Webster Hall on Wednesday night (2/25). Harlem Shakes opened and are currently on the road with the Canadian band. Tickets go on sale today at noon for an upcoming Harlem Shakes show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Born Ruffians also opened the Webster Hall show. Watch a UK commercial featuring the Canadian band's music HERE. Watch videos from the NYC show (Clash cover and new songs included), and see more pictures, below...

I've Seen TPC play better shows in the past. Sound overall mediocre. And that Clash cover was just Okay.

Pefect line-up! Overall an amazing show. Just glad that poor drunk girl decided to vomit in the middle of the crowd BEFORE it started.

Does anyone have a setlist?

At first I was like, Tokyo Hotel -- Wha!?
Then I like, Tokyo Police Club and I like, oh.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 11:45 AM

They were pretty good at Mawxwells back in the fall...

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 12:21 PM

Yeah, that show was pretty awesome from start to finish. I thought Harlem Shakes were fantastic and I was always so-so on the older stuff...

"Just glad that poor drunk girl decided to vomit in the middle of the crowd BEFORE it started."

That's a good way to keep some big galoot from standing in front of you and blocking your view.

clash cover is shit, c'mon people, have we all lost our sense of what good music is?

Posted by me you and us | February 27, 2009 1:15 PM

Someone should have vomited on that annoying male photographer with his flash, pushing himself in front of people and being generally obnoxious.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 1:15 PM

Oh great. An amazing band like Born Ruffians OPENING for a mediocre band like the Tokyo Police Club.

Went to see the show with my daughter, by default, I know the music well and it's really really good. The guys were very nice and giving after the show too. We chatted with them for about 20 minutes and they really autographed decorated her setlist nicely
Yes that male photog was annoying, especially when he squeezed in between two girls leaning on the stage, one being my kid.....said he'd stay a minute....five minutes later I tapped him on the shoulder and told him his time was up. He moved.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 2:52 PM

by writing "decorated" I meant they drew some cute pictures on the setlist. Much more than just an autograph.

^^^^^^
dad of the year?

@1:15 - I found that douche bag photographer's page http://flickr.com/photos/carltphotography Carl Timpone is his name. For someone to push his way to the front, fire a shitload of flash, and take these shitty pictures is just retarded. Pour a beer on him the next time you see him. Or better yet on his camera.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 3:51 PM

TOKYO POLICE CLUB BLOW.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2009 3:52 PM

Leave Carl Timpone Alone.

He feels it's "necessary to visually depict his life in a completely metaphoric and conceptual manner, doing so brings him closer to understanding himself and the nature of humanity."

And if shoving the hordes of people at a Tokyo Police Club show to get his blurry photos brings him one step closer to fulfilling his artistic thesis and MAYBE EVEN REACHING PERSONAL ENLIGHTENTMENT, while other people are simply enjoying a rock concert, then let's not get in the way of that.

No awards for me .....just a mom who loves music....I take my daughter to all the concerts I go to as well....like The Pretenders...Heart...Motley Crue...Allman Brothers...Alice in Chains...Velvet Revolver....and the list goes on....and I get to know all her music as well....she's turned me on to some good tunes I might not otherwise know...

So great to know that moms and dads love tpc as much as i do!

this show was too long and too boring, next time perhaps they should play EVERY song they've ever written and then some CLASH cover song as well, oh oh, they did that.

only the good stuff next time cause kiddies, it's not ALL good.

Posted by For Mom's & Dad's! | February 28, 2009 3:10 AM

my mom was there. and she's the coolest.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2009 3:56 PM

wow. who would have ever thought that people actually take the time out of their pathetic lifestyle to criticize amazing upcoming artists. two words love, grow up. i was at that show and sorry to say flash was not in everyones eyes, plus buddy its a fucking show, you know that dont ya? people get pushed around, and get lights in their eyes, its all common. i've been pushed around at shows before, do i go and try to stalk the person that did it and then blog about it like i'm some hot shit...uhm, no.

it's just so sad to me, to see this type of behavior, you all must be so young or so stupid. just stop bashing people its a horrible form of character.

Carl Timpone is great photographer, check his shit you already looked up his website, you might as well right. and honestly, i'm an art student, finding meaning and reasons as to why i paint what i paint or photograph what i photograph...that is drilled into our heads as artists, and sorry to anyone who doens'nt understand that. that offends me, as an artist. back off.
but in all honesty, THAT IS HIS JOB, as much fun as it is for him, according to one of you,"to be a douche bag" HE GETS PAID TO TAKE THOSE SO CALLED SHITTY PICTURES.

Posted by Anonymous | March 3, 2009 6:16 PM

^^^

no one should get paid for using a flash.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2009 12:50 AM

carls shit is good. mad people slurp on him wherever he goes. the more annoying part is how good his photographs come out and how much money he gets to take him. ..and he chills with the bands. thats what is annoying. get familiar [you jealous wenches]

Posted by jenna | March 4, 2009 7:08 PM

Yes, we get it: you're art students. Hence the bad-form, the solipsistic justifications, and general disillusionment.

I reiterate: Leave Carl Timpone Alone. (Unless you want to "slurp" him)

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2009 7:47 PM

who is the new drummer for born ruffians?

Posted by billy | March 4, 2009 8:44 PM

haha losers stop whining about this photographer, solipsistic??? as in self absorbance and preoccupation of one's feelings... writing blogs about people you dont know to further mask your insecurities, making fun of the artists community, and crying over being nudged at a CONCERT.

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2009 8:09 AM

look like someone's bored and doing some egosurfing. they are called comments, not blogs. welcome to the internet.

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2009 11:16 AM

Just wanted to share a photo of the vomit I took, because it's pretty much on the same level of awesomeness as those Carl Timpone pictures.

I saw Carl take a picture of the vomit at the show too, but it's at a better angle with a gorgeous vignette. Saw it hanging up in a Pratt gallery next to his Jesus on Fire masterpiece.

Carl Timpowned!

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2009 3:55 PM

why is everyone freaking out about this kid, are your world of warcraft servers down, you have nothing else to do to keep your little peanut sized brains occupied? seems like a silly 2nd grade game of follow the leader, a group of socially inept people hiding behind keyboards and the judgements of other people. Has any of you actually attempted to contact this kid since it seems like you all have a lot of pent up anger..looks like you all prefer taking a more cowardly root.... how shocking. egosurfing? I am not the one wasting my time stalking out peoples information and trying to belittle them through a COMMENT on a blog. Personally he can go take a photo of shit on a stick for all I care..and it will still be more productive then what you people are doing

Posted by Anonymous | March 6, 2009 5:09 PM

i guess i should just start playing world of warcraft instead of going to shows so i don't have to be pushed around by carl timpone and other horrible photographers out there.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2009 1:18 PM

his work is good, get over it. have fun with your computer games.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2009 6:47 PM

sorry, it's not. comparing his pics with natasha's shows that access isn't everything and it takes a modicum of skill as well as common courtesy to take good pictures. have fun brooding and commenting on this thread. it'll just bump up the entry and google and show how bad carl timpone is at taking pictures.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2009 10:46 PM

10:46 is pissed at Carl for pushing his grandma at a Barry Manilow concert. pew pew pew! *blows the smoke from my level 60 tauren's hunting rife*
