the Beets
Thank You
Mi Ami

128 River St @ Metropolitan Ave | Williamsburg, Brooklyn
L-Bedford, G-Metropolitan, JM-Marcy | 9:30pm | all ages | $7

"A band that can get sharp sounds out of a slide whistle and a harmonica… minimal bass thwacks, stop-start drums with wild accents, and a guitar like tripping face-first into a pile of off-brand razors" - Baltimore City Paper . "Members of Baltimore's More Dogs take hyper-angular, combatitive guitar / bass lines and richocet them off airtight machine-like percussion, all while keepin' it nice and spare. Layer on some organ and harmonica to kick up the rhythm even more and you have yourself some sharp instrumental art rock that’ll get your primal blood pumping." - GK

"Comprised of ex-members of Black Eyes, Mi Ami have wrought an album of skittish paranoia littered with dub inflections, percussive post-punk throbs and experimental disco bass lines. Fulfilling the promises that were laid on their African Rhythms 12″, Watersports is full of twisting, urgent tracks that pull and tug at the listener, while Daniel Martin-McCormick's vocals instill a sense of panic with their high pitched hysterics." - RAVENSINGSTHEBLUES.BLOGSPOT.COM

"The Beets play sunny, effortless 60s garage rock. They're a new band and it’s certainly pretty simple, direct stuff, but theirs is a sound that, for the moment, requires no embellishment to be purely enjoyable. I challenge you not to get their lo-fi pop stuck in your head after a few listens. the Beets hail from Jackson Heights, Queens" - IMPOSEMAGAZINE.COM . Multicultural Queens weird dudes who channel the Velvets, awesomely.
