The Black And Blue Bowl (aka Superbowl of Hardcore) is back at Studio B in 2009, with a lineup heavy on reunited and classic hardcore bands and headlined by the recently reunited Earth Crisis who, for my money, peaked with the line "A FIRESTORM TO PURIFYYYYYYYYYYYY!". Beware, similar to the previous statement, the following announcement CONTAINS LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERING:

Earth Crisis have a new album on the way, To The Death due on Century Media on May 5th. The band also recently announced a bunch of tour dates (below) with Walls of Jericho, Reign Supreme, Blood Stands Still and Unholy including 5/1 in New Haven with Vision Of Disorder and Hatebreed. Earth Crisis are also on board for Bamboozle East in E. Rutherford NJ with No Doubt and Fall Out Boy. Tempting. Full Earth Crisis dates are below.

Cro-Mags (which one can only assume is "Jam") will be at Black & Blue, and are also playing Europa on March (tickets here).

Sub-Zero announced they will call it quits, and The Black & Blue Bowl marks their LAST show, with the "original lineup doing an old school set".

There's something endearing and cool as fuck about that tour schedule. Five smelly hardcore bands going across the country with a bunch of TBA dates. That's punk rock.

Tell tale sign about where Hardcore continues to thrive: audiences are ready to go to these shows in the south, the disenfranchised Rust Belt, and in the land of right wing nut jobs. Anyone got tix for Des Moines or Tulsa? What about Cleveland or Salt Lake City?

Never been so happy to live in big city than when I think about the "punk" that still has legs in these rural/ex-urban enclaves. Angry dudes w/ an air of self-righteousness.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2009 1:13 AM

Wow VOD, Hatebreed, and Earth Crisis together for one show. Is it 1996? Glad I saved my jnco pants.

Posted by Maria | March 15, 2009 2:19 AM

The fact alone that earth crisis is from Syracuse indicates to me right off the bat that they made shitty music. I don't even have to listen to it to know that!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2009 12:16 PM

Hey, Ra Ra Riot are from Syracuse!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2009 12:30 PM
