UPDATE: The lineup has been announced

All Points West 2008 (more by Kyle Dean Reinford)
All Points West

All Points West, the three-day music festival in Liberty State Park in Jersey City, will be back for a second year this summer. Plus, I'm told the festival has worked out many of the kinks of the first year. More details on exactly what that means, along with the dates and the entire 2009 lineup, will be posted right here on this website at 7AM on Monday morning. Wake up early and check it out!

In the meantime, to keep things interesting, I have two APW Saturday (exact date TBA) general admission tickets to giveaway to the person who can come closest to guessing the lineup. I'm not sure exactly how many bands will play over the three days, so let's limit it to 30. The first person to guess 30 bands/artists (or the closest to it) that are playing any and all of the days of All Points West this year, wins the two tickets. Details on how that works below...

All Points West

To enter: You must leave a comment below that lists the 30 bands/artists who you think will play All Points West this year. Leave a name in the name box (doesn't have to be full real name), your email address in the email address box (it has to be real, but it doesn't show up on the site), and your guess for 30 bands in the Comments box. The email address is necessary so I have a way to contact the winner. Again, it won't show up anywhere on the website. You won't get any spam. Only the name you enter is how people reading the website will know you.

If two people enter the same 30 bands, the tickets will go to the person who guessed those 30 bands first. All comments are date and time stamped.

You can enter right up until 6:55 am Monday morning, March 30, 2009 (Eastern Standard Time).

Two tickets will be awarded to the person who correctly guesses the most bands at the time of the initial announcement. If a band cancels or more are added later, we can't go back in time and change who wins.

Winner will be contacted via the email they provided. They will be asked to provide the real name they want the tickets to be left under at the door of the festival and/or a mailing address to be sent the tickets if that's how they end up coming.

Those affiliated with BrooklynVegan.com, an artist playing the festival, AEG, or All Points West at all are not eligible. If you are, don't enter!

Let me know if I forgot anything. Good luck!

yo peeps, if you really want to win, take a look at last year's line up and don't guess those people again

ie: grizzly bear and animal collective

no festival books bands two years in a row, that said they WOULD make the festival this year

Also, I agree with bro that says we are being too ambitious, this festival is new and can't afford a lot of big names

Highly unlikely we are going to get a lot of them.

I'd guess yes on St. Vincent and Dirty Projectors tho, seem cheap and available

APW?!?!?!

Without Radiohead, this festival would have been a complete disaster. They would need a headliner of comparable stature to pull it off again. My guess will be that the festival will be canceled. Last year was a bust. Didn't they sell only 11K tickets for Sunday last year? Ouch.

Is it possible for any Festival to have any surprises in their lineups? All these acts are great but are how many of them can you really not see at any given time in NY...and in a more intimate setting at that?

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2009 11:53 AM

"Let me help you people out , heres last year line-up (minus a few)

Unless it's a main stage headliner a band could easily play the festival back to back years..

my hint would be to exclude bands that have a major NYC area concert scheduled for this summer and into the fall..
i don't mean a band playing a Bowery or Maxwells show but if they're playing an ampitheater, arena or stadium they don't want to have their audience deciding between a festival or a tour their headlining

Unless it's a main stage headliner a band could easily play the festival back to back years..

>> its still pretty rare... and if so its maybe one or two at most.. look at all the major fests Lollapalooza < Coachella , ACL , Bonnaroo & you'll see VERY few back to back repeats (lineups can be found on Wikipedia) Theres is no way in hell that Radiohead is playing again.... so dont even waste your keystrokes

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2009 2:23 PM

Coldplay are guaranteed to play they will be in the area during the festival and they have a couple of days open to play it, love them or hate them it's going to happen, and do people actually think Radiohead would have any chance of playing this year?!!? There is a better chance of Led Zepplin playing this year than Radiohead

>> its still pretty rare... and if so its maybe one or two at most.. look at all the major fests Lollapalooza < Coachella , ACL , Bonnaroo & you'll see VERY few back to back repeats (lineups can be found on Wikipedia) Theres is no way in hell that Radiohead is playing again.... so dont even waste your keystrokes"

bands like wilco and MMJ have played bonnaro 2 times in a 3 yr span.. that's just off the top of my head..

a local band like Grizzly Bear that has a record to promote could play a second yr.. i think that's an easier guess than trying to figure out the curveball suprise performers that will be on the bill..
if i had to pick 30 bands they'd be on my list..
i agree it's less likely that they'll play having already performed last yr but it's still worth a guess..
and i agree Radiohead won't be there

How will the entries be read? If you set up a computer to search these comments for the name of each artist in Monday's announcement, names that have been typed incorrectly won't be counted. Will an intern have to read each and every entry?

u gotta love the people that put like 10 headliners on their list. The post above this has: The Killers, Daft Punk, Beastie Boys, Green Day, Coldplay, No Doubt, Kings of Leon, Blur and Beck...now that would be a very expensive festival to produce!!
