Animal Collective @ Bowery Ballroom (more by J Caldwell)
Animal Collective

As someone pointed out, Animal Collective is one of the artists playing the Celebrate Brooklyn series of concerts at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn this summer. It's not a free show though. $30 tickets for the August 14th show go on sale Wednesday at noon, but are on "venue presale" NOW (password?).

MGMT is playing a not-free show at the same venue this summer.

TV on the Radio, M Ward and others are playing shows in Central Park this summer.

Animal Collective is also playing Terminal 5 in May, and many other places.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 1:11 PM

that's a lot of money to see some bros just press buttons on some samplers

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 1:17 PM

Sooo wrong. They play a number of instruments and they have a great Brian Eno meets Joy Division feel. I can't wait!!!

Posted by jack | March 24, 2009 1:53 PM

I'm positive there will be plenty of tickets left when it goes on-sale tomorrow.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 1:55 PM

is it just me, or did buying tickets to shows become a FUCKING MISERABLE EXPERIENCE...

Posted by fuckthesystem | March 24, 2009 1:56 PM

Show of the summer? They played for free at Seaport a couple summers ago and it wasnt very good, let alone "show of the summer."

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 1:56 PM

hey fuckthesystem --

YES. especially to shows like this. the most irritating thing in the world is when people buy tickets just to resell them at a higher cost on craigslist

Posted by jack | March 24, 2009 1:59 PM

why do you spend your time commenting if you're just gonna HATE on shit? spend your time doing something positive

Posted by callin' out haterzzz | March 24, 2009 1:59 PM

only took a minute -- doesn't seem like much a of a waste

Posted by jack | March 24, 2009 2:01 PM

that seaport show was one of, if not the worst show I've ever been to.

Posted by wembley | March 24, 2009 2:01 PM

Tired of all of this password BS. Put the damned things onsale already.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:02 PM

i was highly unimpressed with the band when I saw them at the Seaport .. the crowd was also very not enticing .. lots of attitudes and lack of smiles

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:05 PM

Haha! I saw the Seaport show and I was very impressed and I had barely heard of them before then. They are very exotic, bizarre, and clearly not for everyone. If you don't like them. If you just want to talk to be annoying and clearly don't have anything more helpful then go stick your head back up your pooooop shoooooot...

Posted by Deano Bravo | March 24, 2009 2:06 PM

Comon peoples, passwerds?!?

Posted by Deano Bravo | March 24, 2009 2:08 PM

password was only emailed to animal collective's groupies and A-list bloggers. Sorry guys.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:12 PM

Animal Collective and TVOTR have something in common.....highly anticipated show with a HUGE lull somewhere towards the middle. These are 2 bands I love and will see everytime they come to town (Philly), but I always leave just a bit disappointed.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:14 PM

fuck prospect bandshell. outdoor concert thats in convenient to get to.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:15 PM

just chill out in the field and listen to them. they dont have any amazing light show or stage presence. save yo scratch

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:15 PM

yea .. i have been following TVOTR before they released their first album and ive seen em a ton of times and their live show always leaves me a tad dissappointed ..

you really dont need a ticket for the Prospect Park show .. you can hear/see very clearly from outside the waist high picket fence they put up

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:19 PM

Waist high picket fence? That's for the free shows. For shows that cost money, they put up big chain link fences with tarps to block the view.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:22 PM

hmm my apologies .. i could have sworn you needed a ticket Medeski, Martin & Wood when i watched them from outside the park.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:24 PM

So, you can still hear the music.

Laying down in the grass > sitting in uncomfortable seat.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:24 PM

i think you can chill in the kiddie playground behind the stage for free. you wont see but you will hear. assuming cops dont chase people out...

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:26 PM

It's true, Prospect is my backyard and I love seeing shows there! It's real easy to see shows without tix too...

Posted by Deano Bravo | March 24, 2009 2:35 PM

This is soooo great for Brooklyn!!!! You will be able to hear this show if you are anywhere near the Park.

"fuck prospect bandshell. outdoor concert thats in convenient to get to." (anon 2:15)

There's this great thing in NY called the subway and for $4 you can actually go round trip on any line. Also, what exactly does "in convenient" mean?

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:42 PM

Good for people who live around there. It's just too long of a subway ride for me to get there and not worth it unless who's playing is one of my favorites.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:48 PM

I'll be coming from Queens... 15 minute drive

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 2:49 PM

is deakin gonna be there? i heard he's rejoining the band around then

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 3:02 PM

Do you think Grizzly Bear will open?

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 3:08 PM

OH MY GOD IF HE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 3:12 PM

I'll be there - DANCING and doin' my thaaang, y'all!

Posted by Val Lopers | March 24, 2009 3:22 PM

OMG, Dan Deacon is opening????

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 3:46 PM

pass=queef

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 3:50 PM

if dan deacon was opening id actually think about buying a ticket. I would be leaving right after his set too...

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 3:54 PM

you's a fool!
damn straight
yo i would boo grizzly bear if they opened and it would be so funny, they're way retarded in how they acted about the mp3 police thing like AC had something against them. and i heard their link and it's way boring

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 4:09 PM

congrats you are the dumbest person on the internet

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 4:24 PM

animal collective threads are always full of trash like this. the stupid "password" bs they've been doing only throws gasoline onto the fire.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 4:27 PM

what time does free credit report.com band come on

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 4:30 PM

congratulations for caring

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 4:36 PM

"what time does free credit report.com band come on"

10:00 pm (after the seafood joint closes)

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 4:58 PM

i "LOL'd" extra hard at the free credit report.com band remark's.
i'd totally see them perform

QUESTION!

I don't know where exactly in propest park or central park these shows are performed...but considering its a park...can't you just watch/listen from a distance??? Any tips on this procedure?

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 5:42 PM

Yes, there is a stage with high walls, but you can easily hear everything by lounging around the grass area. Many people did it for the Bob Dylan concert and the cops were cool with it. GOOD VIBES PEOPLE

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 5:46 PM

never again will i pay for this fucking band. If it was free, maybe i'd go to hang in the park, but for $$ never again!

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 8:58 PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2009 9:21 PM

I am selling up to 4 tickets to see Animal Collective at Prospect Park in Brooklyn on August 14, 2009. This is a general admission show, so get there early and be as close as you want!! I am asking $99 each for these tickets (I will sell singles or pairs, also), but will listen to offers.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2009 3:00 PM

yeah they're already up on ebay and stub hub
haven't they learned from terminal 5
they're not gonna get another jan 20 21 fiasco unless they play at bowery ballroom or the release date of they're very anticipated album

or if DEAKIN is playing this show, if deakin plays this show, than it might be a scalpers wet dream of indie show scalping

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2009 3:06 PM

This show will definitely be sold out by the end of the night, so this dipshit is probably just trying to get in on the ground floor.
