another unventilated brooklyn venue to turn my nuts into sweaty, low-hanging clackers

same place as the lucky cat?

Bruar Falls is the old Lucky Cat space. I hope it's cool in there. I don't see how this venue will attract people when Trash bar is across the street, but I guess Williamsburg venues have always faced competition with shows because there are so many spaces. A lot of the same bands that play Cake Shop are on this initial schedule. Hopefully it's a good space. Looks like there won't be any food, bummer. Lucky Cat's pizza was great-but thank goodness for all the places you can buy pizza at.

yes its where the lucky cat used to be, good riddance

Yep the old Lucky Cat space, which I wasn't even aware had closed. (And I live two blocks away.) Anxious to check it out.

"Bruar"? What the hell is a "bruar"?

It reminds me of the sound one makes when barfing up chunks of tacos and beer -- "bruar!!" all over my shoes.

Rumor has the Cake Shop guy is also opening a spot in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn. Anybody know any more about this?

Posted by marty | March 25, 2009 4:20 PM

So no cupcakes? That sucks...

is bruar falls making a terrible website as well?

Cake Shop in Windsor Terrace? NO NO NO NO NO. I love indie rock and the Cake Shop but some neighborhoods in Brooklyn need to remain as close to the old Brooklyn as possible or else Brooklyn will become as gross as Manhattan has the last ten years.

"Rumor has the Cake Shop guy is also opening a spot in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn. Anybody know any more about this? "

That location will only be a bar, no music. Only one of the Cake Shop is opening that bar.

BTW, most of Brooklyn has already been taken above by transient hipster/yuppies. Too late for Windsor Terrace, but other places like Midwood are still standing.

on Lucky Cat's website it looks like Sharon Jones played there? WTF and I only live 1 block away!

"n Lucky Cat's website it looks like Sharon Jones played there?"

Sharon Jones has been around for a long time. She was playing loft parties in Williamsburg not to long ago. I saw her once play with Antibalas for $7 at some place off of Bushwick years ago.

Where have you been?!?
