Two separate ticket presales begin at 9am for the Dark Was the Night show at Radio City Music Hall. One is the American Express presale, and the other is the "Internet Presale" (PASSWORD = oksana or HEDARK).

The National is the band featured in the first of a new series of Dark Was the Night videos. Watch it below...

Today was probably the first time I've been on time at work in over a year, but it was worth it...row bb!

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:03 AM

fuck, I hate having to commit to buying tickets to a show so abruptly.

Orch. Row E either way!

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:07 AM

In the pit! Row BBB!

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:08 AM

Okay, peeps.

I want to let you all know the retardedness that is Ticketmaster....

My first try, I had row DD, with the internet presale. I figured I'd try the Amex presale to see if they were any better. They weren't--row YY. BUT, apparently, Ticketmaster considered it the same batch, and it made my original DD browser page error. Ughs.

After that, the tickets were shitty, so I said "F it, I'll just keep refreshing and hope something decent comes up. Yeah, they were decent. Pit AAA. lol :D. Not complaining, but man, that's retarded to score AAA Pit at 9:12.

Posted by Cuse | March 11, 2009 9:18 AM

how did you get row BB? What password did you use? At 9AM on the button the best tickets available were row YY

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:18 AM

man that is expensive. i hope most of it goes to the charity...row bb in the 300s. 71 bucks. it took several "search agains" to get out of ss.

national website says internet presale password is badger.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:19 AM

hahaha 9:03, ditto that.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:20 AM

Suddenly my Visa card is no good with TBastard? You don't think they want me to switch to Amex, do you?

Posted by drewo | March 11, 2009 9:27 AM

strong was the coffee

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:37 AM

I used the Bowery presents presale code, oksana to get row bb exactly at 9.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:40 AM

Row JJ in the 200's. Can't complain.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:46 AM

Maybe this is old news, but I notice that David Byrne was removed from the notice sent around by Bowery Presents.

%#&%!

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:47 AM

so lame, why are all these passwords working? bowery newsletter says 11am presale with that password. you had to dig a little to find the REAL 9am password.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 9:56 AM

benefit shows like this always suck.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 10:29 AM

WTF, Bowery email said presale started at 11am????!??

Posted by Pablo | March 11, 2009 10:39 AM

Not to worry - these tix are not flying off the shelves. Maybe the price point is a bit too steep.

Posted by drewo | March 11, 2009 10:43 AM

WTF, Bowery email said presale started at 11am????!??

Posted by Pablo | March 11, 2009 10:46 AM

Yeah. I would wait for the general sale and see if the tix are better. That is unless someone really good gets officially added to the lineup before then.

Posted by Cuse | March 11, 2009 10:46 AM

yeah, 10:46, unless someone really good gets added to the lineup to play two songs without warming up. should be great.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 10:47 AM

yeah, bowery email said sale started at 11am, but it did have the password. and if you click on the ticketmaster link, ticketmaster said that the amex/internet sale started at 9am
still...it shouldn't be so fucking complicated to buy tickets to a show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 10:49 AM

Am I the only one not rushing to this show? It's sorta like the tibet show.... it's just gonna be a c*ck tease of a set from each artist probably ending with some form of group song.

I would have rather had a red hot series... to raise monies for the charity and have several nights 1 or 2 artists each night.

It would have made MUCH more money.

Just sayin'. *shrug*

like the people above me mentioned, I pulled down seats in row dd, but decided not to buy. to me this is more like a 20 or 30 dollar ticket, not a 75 dollar ticket...

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 11:01 AM

10:50, i totally agree.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 11:01 AM

Presale doesn't necessarily mean better seats.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 11:25 AM

Well I'm excited for the show...this compilation was great. I'm not expecting it to be a brilliant, but will be nice to see that variety of artisits on one stage. Yeah, it's expensive, but it feels good that it's going to a great cause. Don't think anyone besides asshole Ticketmaster and maybe the venue are making much money off of it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 11:46 AM

Agree with 11:01. Ticket prices are just getting ridiculous - and not just because we are in a recession. I've still got a job and there's no way I'm paying $70 for this.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 11:49 AM

can anyone actually confirm this concert is indeed a benefit? not that i think the artists are trying to bank on it, but nowhere have i seen the words "benefit concert." all announcements i have seen are "a concert commemorating..." this release. commemorate does not equal give money to.

if most of my $58 was going to red hot, i'd feel a lot more comfortable with the price...

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 12:07 PM

Picked up a ticket for row AA in the 500's. Looking forward to this.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 12:32 PM

It is def a benefit. No bands are making money off of it. All profit goes to Red Hot

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 1:04 PM

^^^ how do you know this? you'd think if this was the case they would advertise it as such.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 3:01 PM

Be very careful buying extra tickets for this show. I have been to similar ones. They are usually not "hot items" and Radio City is very big. You might get stuck with them unless you find enough friends to go with you.

But if it's indeed a benefit for Red Hot, then it's for a good cause, buy as many as you can.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2009 5:01 PM

Yes, be very careful.
Until the additional artists are announced -- then people will go nuts trying to get tickets. But until then, be very careful...

Posted by drewo | March 11, 2009 5:09 PM

Additional artists won't make any difference unless it's someone like Paul McCartney maybe. Despite Paul Simon my friend had to eat his extra ticket for the Bookeaters show at Town Hall last year. There were a lot of empty seats. On the other hand, Paul Simon's much more expensive Beacon shows were very hard to get into. Many people just aren't that much into indie benefit shows with a lot of artists. The negative comments above are from those people. I happen to have a great time at most of these.
