Luc Lemay in Negativa
Luc LeMay

Gorguts has returned! Luc Lemay issued the following statement:

A STATEMENT FROM LUC LEMAY

After all the posts on metal websites and forums lately, I've decided that it was time for me to confirm all the rumors about GORGUTS making a new record! So, yes, I've been working on new material since August/September 2008.

"The idea came together after the suggestion from my longtime partner in crime, Steeve Hurdle. One evening after a NEGATIVA rehearsal, Steeve brought up the fact that 2009 being the 20th anniversary of GORGUTS, it would be nice for me to give to the fans a new record!!! I immediately loved the idea, and not long after, I started writing material for this record. Then I got in touch with John Longstreth (ORIGIN, DIM MAK), and John said yes right away! John and I have been writing to each other for a few years, and we both had back then the intention of doing some kind of musical project together. Then I knew from square one that I wanted to have Colin Marston on bass. Big Steeve showed me some DYSRHYTHMIA videos.... that's how I got blown away by the playing and musical style of Kevin Huffnagel! At my big surprise, they both agreed to be part of my next record!!!! - [Luc Lemay] (via Blabbermouth.net)

Just so we're all clear, members of Gorguts, Dysrhythmia, Krallice, and Origin, in the SAME BAND. I present to you, Gorguts 2009:

* Luc Lemay - Vocals, Guitar
* Kevin Hufnagel (DYSRHYTHMIA, WHILE HEAVEN WEPT, BYLA, EUCLID STREET, THE FIFTH SEASON, GREY DIVISION BLUE) - Guitar
* Colin Marston (DYSRHYTHMIA, BEHOLD... THE ARCTOPUS, BYLA, KRALLICE, INDRICOTHERE) - Bass
* John Longstreth (DIM MAK, ORIGIN, THE RED CHORD, SKINLESS, POSSESSION, ANGELCORPSE) - Drums

Check out video from a recent rehearsal below. Since the dissolution of Gorguts, Luc LeMay has focused his efforts as guitarist for Negativa, who are currently on the hunt for a new singer. Luc LeMay recently lent his talents to the new Neuraxis record, The Thin Line Between.

Colin Marston's other band, Krallice, are scheduled to cast darkness upon The Studio @ Webster Hall with A Storm of Light and Wolves In The Throne Room (tickets here). WITTR and ASoL (but NOT Krallice) are also on board for May 22nd at Europa with Thrones (tickets here).

This is extremely exciting. I think he has a great new lineup that can tackle the crazy Obscura material (which I used to describe back then as Don Caballero with death metal vox) and I imagine write some good new stuff.

Very excited about this. I never saw the original lineup back in the day.

Kick ass band, and great new lineup as well!

Really cool. I'm particular with my DM bands and Gorguts is one of class. Luc is also a pretty sharp fella.

personally i think this band got better after 'obscura'...so if 'from wisdom to hate' is an indicator the next record will be amazing. hopefully they will also put out the working demos of the new album-like they did for 'obscura'.
