Jack White's new band....

If you didn't hear, Jack White is now in a band called The Dead Weather....
In addition to frontman White, who drums and sings in the band, the supergroup quartet includes vocalist Alison Mosshart of U.K. outfit The Kills; guitarist Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age; and bass player Jack Lawrence, one of White's fellow Raconteurs. Thanks to all who emailed. Video below...The Dead Weather made their performance debut in Nashville last night in front of an invitation-only crowd of 150 fans, insiders and friends, including Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride and fellow White Striper Meg White.
The 20-minute show took place at the headquarters of the White-founded label Third Man Records, a building designed to serve as a one-stop shop for rockers, housing a record store, photo studio and stage.
"This band is the first project to come out of this new system, which is our new studio in town and this building," White told the crowd before the gig.
The band's debut single, "Hang You From the Heavens," is already available for download on iTunes. Their 11-song debut album, Horehound, will consist of 10 original tracks and a cover of Bob Dylan's "New Pony."
It's set for release on White's Third Man label in June. [E]

anyone else hate looking at Jack Lawrence??
Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2009 1:19 PM
It's true the guy seems to be involved in fifty projects at once. But when I think back to seeing them at the Magic Stick after their second single came out, damn, I gotta admit he's doing exactly what he wants, which is to just make music 23 hours a day. Not everything he does is gold, but it's usually got something good in it.

agree with 1:20. this guy needs to stop dropping comments about his blog
Posted by Anonymous | March 12, 2009 1:36 PM
Its not a "guy", you morons. Its a bot spewing comment spam. I'm sure BV has a excellent filter that probably isolates thousands of them a day, but sometimes a few get through. I have a blog that gets about 5-10% of the hits that BV gets daily, and I have 100s of comment spams filtered every day. Its a pain in the ass, but fortunately the filters work about 95% of the time, and the programmers seem to be keeping up to date with the spammers.

re: 1:47 - she admits it and who really cares anyway? wasn't she 15 or 16 when discount formed? the records she makes with the kills are great and i'm pretty sure everyone has liked some shitty music at one time or another in their lives.

"Jack Lawrence is the most offputting guy to be around at a bar. Hands down."
He also has a tremendous schnozz. Look at that thing! He can probably dog an entire 8-ball in one go.

it was just a question, i wasn't insulting her past. someone mentioned discount in the thread which made me wonder if she denies her former life like so many other people do.

THE new site for fashion art and music?
Shouldn't it be "A new site for fashion art and music"? Every day thousands of sites are made for these subjects. Therefore, your site is just a new site, not THE new site.
And to loosely quote Cracker, "What the world needs now is another new site for fashion art and music like I need a hole in the head."
Quit spamming.

Everyone knows THE site for fashion art and music is:

Go. You won't regret it.

Jack White rocks! The WS performance on the last Conan was great...that is, Jack's part. Meg tried her best to ruin it.

Alison wore a Rites Of Spring shirt when I saw Discount open for Sense Field in 1999. SENSE FIELD!!! Fuck, I miss that band.

another example of how much the rock and roll scene is owned by Jack White. He is truely an amazing talent, and believe me, I wanted to hate it, but the more I listened, well you know the story. He's got the midas touch, again.

Dont you see its Jack the "fashion bug" white doing the spamming for his new super fun hair products, vintage jackets, and marc Jacobs diapers.
I miss the weather channel when it comes to this.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2009 5:24 AM
Yes exactly.Too much like Royal Trux and Pussy Galore with better production.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2009 5:32 AM
This dude's first band sucked enough. Why does he need five?
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2009 10:04 AM
We need more White Stripes, maybe Raconteurs, but not this. I do love me some Jack White, though.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2009 11:01 AM
Is it me or are all of Jack White's projects starting to sound the same.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2009 11:03 AM
@salsasnack.com 3:38 - Try asking later period Genesis that question.
Posted by blackhat | March 13, 2009 11:04 AM
yea, the weather channel had the best diapers out there.

This is about as memorable as the tune he did with Alicia Keys for the James Bond flick. He doesn't have to prove himself anymore though. I wish he'd produce more. This just sounds, for lack or a better word, ordinary and vanilla. The song has no soul, which is fine and perfect for indie tock I guess.
Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2009 11:52 AM
I feel that Jack White has made a stupid decision. I am really a hater of the kills. I just can't believe he chose Alison as the lead singer.
Posted by Buddie | March 25, 2009 8:03 PM
Okay, I am a huge Jack White fan, but I am even a bigger White Stripes fan. I miss the White Stripes, although I don't like Icky Thump. I wish he would go back and have him and Meg pump out some new good songs. I miss having some Stripage in my life. :(
