This post marks another (possibly the final) chapter in a series of posts highlighting bands that are coming over from Europe to play shows at both SXSW in Austin, and in NYC this month. To recap, there was: Mumford & Sons, Peggy Sue & Jay Jay Pistolet, and 18th Dye, Powersolo & Snake and Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band, and then Micachu, Let’s Wrestle, Post War Years & Screaming Tea Years. Also don’t forget Sky Larkin, A Classic Education, Morrissey’s tourmates The Courteeners, and of course Norway’s Casiokids (who also have a more-recently booked NYC show mentioned in this post). We also did a rundown of some Australian bands last week (or for everything SXSW related, just click HERE).

Now here are three more European bands – all who happen to be playing their first NYC show tonight (3/13). Info on Slow Club, We Have Band and Fight Like Apes, below

1. Slow Club

Hometown: London, UK

Their deal: “Boy-girl two piece from Sheffield doing the anti-folk thing. They don’t know what they sound like, but we suggest you try imagining Emmy The Great fronting Neutral Milk Hotel in a black’n’white 50s flick. Nice, isn’t it?” – Drowned in Sound

NYC Shows: March 13 at Cake Shop (with Mad Scene and NZ’s The Renderers), March 15 at Cameo (with Casiokids, Tanlines and Mumford and Sons), and March 16 at The Delancey (with Post War Years and We Have Band)

2. We Have Band

Hometown: London, UK

Their deal: “There’s no denying the cold wave of sound that breaks from the stage whenever they play, for example at Adventures Close to Home last month, and the heat generated by their four demos, which remind us of the Human League after the girls joined, or Depeche Mode after Vince Clarke left.” – The Guardian

NYC Shows: March 13 at The Studio @ Webster Hall, March 14 at Pianos (with Post War Years), March 14 at Le Royale (DJ set), and March 16 at The Delancey (with Post War Years and Slow Club)

3. Fight Like Apes

Hometown: Dublin, Ireland

Their deal: “the band deliver strong hooks with a powerful oomph, and boast a lead singer who can neatly transition from yearning arena balladry to spunky, shouty bits and thrilling, wordless exclamations.” – Fluxblog.

NYC shows: March 13 at Mercury Lounge (with fellow Dubliners Dirty Epics and Paddy Caseyget tix), March 16 at Pianos
