i'm liking these sxsw photos from jacob. very vibrant

thanks for posting this list. as someone who did not go to the festival, I felt the press coverage (at least in the major media) was dominated by all the major label acts (Metallica, Kayne, etc). someone should ban these major acts from indie festivals, they take attention away from the smaller bands.

a gigantic LOL at anyone saying the airborne toxic event have a GOOD NAME (WHAT!) or make good music, neither of which are true by any stretch of the imagindicktion. lord.

I agree that the media focuses too much on the big parties and surprise acts - photographing sxsw for the 1st time this year, I had a much better time at the smaller showcases, it's an intimate, real music experience - which is 95% what sxsw music is - but the 5% of glitz and glamor gets all the media attention. It's boring shooting the big bands in the 3-song pit. (plus I encountered some slimy paparazzo there too) The smaller stages you can be on stage, talk to the band afterward and make more interesting pictures. Thanks to BV for being true and enthusiastic about the MUSIC

I hope Passion Pit does a NYC show soon. Would love to see them.

Passion Pit played Bowery Ballroom less than a month ago, and it was completely awful.

Two problems with that one sentence. First of all, there is nothing indie about SXSW. Second, SXSW is not a festival.

Show me where on their About page do you see the word indie?
