The Avett Brothers @ Jam on the River 2008 (more by Kyle Dean Reinford)
The Avett Brothers

We are all resting up during this long and much-needed break from the road right now, but are spending a lot of time putting finishing touches on the new album and getting ready for our biggest year yet.

We will have a lot of new stuff this year that we're excited to share with you -- most important is our newest full-length album, which will be in stores this summer! [Avett Bros in February]

The above-mentioned album is the band's Rick Ruben produced Columbia Records debut - its follow-up to 2007's Emotionalism.

No longer on break, the band is playing the Brooklyn Vegan & Agency Group Austin day party today (3/19) in Austin, TX. Last night, they opened for the Decemberists at NPR's showcase at Stubbs.

This summer, the band's extensive touring includes opening dates for Dave Matthews Band (like the Roots), a visit to Sasquatch Fest Memorial Day weekend, and Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th shows at Irving Plaza. Tickets for the NYC shows are are now on fanclub presale (User: avett, password: brothers).

The shows also have a "Rush Presale" starting Friday, March 20th, at 10am (password = strings), and they go on general sale the next day at the same time (at the Live Nation links above).

File the Avett Brothers with Blitzen Trapper and Band of Horses under "bands my friends who don't really listen to music all seem to gravitate to"
