U2

"With sales this morning [March 30th] of over 82,000 tickets sold in New York, 72,000 in Boston and 65,000 in Chicago U2 360 Tour will set the largest single day attendance record in each city....

In New York at Giants Stadium, Muse will be the special guest at both [U2'S] September 24th [show] and now 2nd and final performance on September 25th."

Tickets for that second Giants Stadium show (on September 25th) will go on U2.com presale Tuesday morning (3/31) at 10am. General sale begins Monday, April 6th.

The newly announced dates include several two-night engagements in cities that, like the NYC-area Giants Stadium show, quickly sold out a first night. Those cities include Chicago, Toronto and Boston. U2's 360 Tour will run until fall 2010. The European leg begins at the end of June, and the North American string of shows start (as of now) on September 12th in Chicago. The band also undoubtedly has more announcements for the nearly two-year tour to come.

For the stadium-only show, the band will perform on a unique circular stage surrounded by the audience. U2.com's 360 tour site currently hosts a virtual mock-up of the stage (the flyer/logo above also bears a vague rendition indicating the stage's futuristic bent).

U2 hasn't made respectable music in years. It is absolutely amazing how they can perpetuate a career from hits that are over 10 years old. Stunning businessmen.

Why don't we save time and ticket master fees and just mail these traitors checks for $100. At least noone will have to hear their new fangled shite singles

Cannot believe there aren't riots in Belfast in opposition to these fraud millionaires

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 12:12 AM

guido doesn't mean douchebag, dick.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 12:29 AM

god. wake me when this is over.

Posted by stay in nj | March 31, 2009 1:24 AM

they need to be stopped

Posted by Slob | March 31, 2009 2:06 AM

if they were only capabale of selling 40,000 records you'd all put on your tight little pants and stand in line for hours to see them.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 2:33 AM

say what you will about their music... but at least U2 doesn't screw over their fans with the ticket prices to these things. then entire field is GA and those tickets are only $55, and there are also a bunch of $30 tickets in the upper tier.

granted when you get there, the t-shirts will cost you $45... but who wants to wear a u2 t-shirt these days anyway?

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 7:09 AM

i got a u2 t shirt for $32 as part of my fanclub subscription. and now i've got presale access. enjoy the nosebleeds, suckers!

Posted by bono's scalp | March 31, 2009 7:16 AM

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 7:41 AM

"if they were only capabale of selling 40,000 records you'd all put on your tight little pants and stand in line for hours to see them."

HAHAHAHAHA!!! ... so freaking true ...

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 8:58 AM

12:29: Name a guido that ISN'T a douchebag. I challenge you.

Posted by adam | March 31, 2009 9:11 AM

i can't believe how rude you people are!!! if you don't like their music than why are you even reading this article???? if you don't like their music that is your business!! obviously they're doing something right!!! a stadium sellout says it all!! good for them-

Posted by julie | March 31, 2009 9:28 AM

julie: They are a great band, and I will be seeing them, but popularity doesnt mean anything.

Posted by adam | March 31, 2009 9:39 AM

Best band of the last 25 years..hands down

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 9:43 AM

MEWS!

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 9:45 AM

"guido doesn't mean douchebag, dick."

At least I started my morning with a good laugh! 99.9% of guidos are douchebags but 99.9% of douchebags are not ALWAYS guidos. That's a lot of douchebags!

Today's presale is only available to subscribers who signed up last year. If you signed up when the tour was announced you can get tickets tomorrow morning. If you sign up today you have to wait until tomorrow afternoon.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 9:57 AM

ahhh ... thanks anon 9:57
i take it I'll get an email telling me?

Posted by jeff | March 31, 2009 10:07 AM

U2 needs to retire. Same for the "Boss".

Posted by scott | March 31, 2009 10:08 AM

U2 rocks - Springsteen is washed up...

Posted by LJ | March 31, 2009 10:10 AM

i don't get all these nasty comments on u2. kids, some of the bands you like now could be that big in 10 years and then what, you hate on them? if you were 25 in the mid 80's when unforgettable fire came out, you'd say it was the best album ever. the new album is fantastic. best since achtung baby.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 10:22 AM

jeff - it wasnt in the email only in the faq section of website. i just signed up and found this out. no idea if there will be any tickets left tomorrow.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 10:25 AM

oh well

thanks

Posted by jeff | March 31, 2009 10:27 AM

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 10:41 AM

i'm trying to impress the cougar i'm banging, so hook me up with the GD password.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 10:57 AM

i like muse...

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 11:53 AM

Was anyone able to purchase presale tickets? The password is neither "ACCESS" nor "BOOTS"...

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 1:21 PM

it's not about how popular they are, it's about how obnoxious they are as an entity.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 1:31 PM

That flyer is the cover of Queensryche's "Empire" album.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 1:35 PM

1:21 - I think each person has a unique code. At least that's how it worked for tix in Europe.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 1:41 PM

the code is ACCESS again for the september 25th show. i just got two tickets. capitalization matters and i think that code only worked after 12pm.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 1:47 PM

Giants Stadium is not in New York

Posted by FRX | March 31, 2009 2:06 PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 2:48 PM

u2 needs to just fucking dissappear.

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2009 5:36 PM
